Blizzard has revealed that it is finally "talking about" adding a loot filter to Diablo 4. Over two years after its launch, Diablo 4 fans are still clamoring for Blizzard to make it easier to sort through their hordes of loot.
A loot filter is something that fans have been begging for since release. At high levels, the amount of loot players obtain can become overwhelming, and Blizzard has largely wanted players to use all of it as part of the game's economy balance. However, community sentiment has remained exactly the same in wanting it, despite Blizzard's resistance. Earlier this year, the studio was still hesitant on the possibility of a Diablo 4 loot filter, but couldn't rule it out entirely.
Diablo 4 Season 10 is Forcing Me to Confront My Most Overlooked Class
There's one Diablo 4 class that I've never really dug too deep into, and Season 10 is making it harder for me to ignore than ever before.
Blizzard is Finally Considering a Loot Filter For Diablo 4
In a recent episode of Blizzard's Burning Questions video series on YouTube, live-service design director Dan Tanguay acknowledged that Diablo 4 fans still really want a loot filter. "We've definitely heard everyone's feedback," Tanguay said. "We've done a lot of things that we needed to do prior to revamping the itemization. We've done some almost 'smart filtering' and I think we've reached the limits of that approach. So we are talking about loot filters but I can't really say much more than that right now."
It's still not a direct "yes" from Blizzard, but it's a great step in the right direction for those who want to see a Diablo 4 loot filter at some point in the future. It's just a feature that makes sense in a loot-based video game. Path of Exile 2 has loot filters, and the benefits are clear. That said, the latest comments from Tanguay do not imply that a loot filter is just around the corner, so if it does happen, it will likely be some time away yet.
There is likely to be a lot more Diablo 4 news arriving in the coming weeks. Blizzard is currently gearing up to release Diablo 4 Season 10 on September 23, a big milestone for the game. While the studio has already largely detailed what to expect from Season 10, it's possible that there will be some closer looks at the upcoming features, as there have been for previous Seasons. Fans should keep an eye out in the lead-up to that September 23 release date.
