With the release of Patch 1.3.0a, the gameplay in Diablo 4 Season 3 has undergone many changes, and Igneous Cores is one of them. With these rare consumables, players can activate the Corrupted Altar to enter the Vault of the Loom and challenge Uber Malphas. Previously, players had to use Pearls of Warding, but now this material is only needed for the Statue of Zoltun Kulle and crafting Sigils for Nightmare Vaults.

With the addition of Igneous Cores, some enemy drops and seasonal activities were changed too. Of course, Uber Malphas still rewards daredevils with rare rewards like Evernight or Genesis Tuning Stones. However, other enemies you've previously encountered have changed their range of rewards in favor of Igneous Cores.

Diablo 4: How to Get Governing and Tuning Stones

There are a couple of ways you can get Governing and Tuning Stones in Diablo 4, and here we'll tell you a bit more about each of them.

How To Get Igneous Cores in Diablo 4

Arcane Tremor Diablo 4

You can only get Igneous Cores in Diablo 4 in two ways:

  • Defeat Herald of Malphas Elites.
  • Defeat Son of Malphas Boss.

Although both methods have advantages and disadvantages, we recommend visiting Arcane Tremor to get started. Players can find this seasonal event in different parts of the game world and identify it by the obelisk icon with a small leaf on the map. By interacting with obelisks, you will accumulate Elemental Cores and Shattered Stones, allowing you to activate Braziers as part of the same event. Among the many enemies, players can fight Herald of Malphas Elites, which has a chance to reward you with Igneous Cores. It is important to note that these enemies can drop other rewards, so this method does not guarantee success.

The second way is to fight the Son of Malphas Boss. This enemy can randomly spawn during Arcane Tremor or in Vault dungeons. You can't control how often it spawns, but defeating this creature guarantees that you will receive Igneous Cores. Thus, both methods have approximately the same potential for farming Igneous Cores. You only have to choose between a random encounter with a 100% drop and a 100% encounter with a random drop.

Seneschal in Diablo 4 is a Construct, a robot-like creature that will follow you and fight alongside you, and here we'll tell you how to upgrade it.

How To Use Igneous Cores in Diablo 4

Diablo 4 character

Igneous Cores are a replacement for Pearls of Warding to activate the Corrupted Altar. Previously, to summon Uber Malphas in the Vault of the Loom on World Tier 4, players had to place 10 Pearls of Warding and 250 Shattered Stone on the Corrupted Altar. However, after the 1.3.0a Patch, you must place 7 Igneous Cores and 250 Shattered Stone on the altar. It will allow you to enter the most difficult dungeon and challenge Uber Malphas.

However, this change only removed some responsibility from Pearls of Warding. Players still need to save up this consumable to donate to the Statue of Zoltun Kulle. After all, to unlock bonus Wardwoven Chests after defeating Malphas, players still need to save stacks of blessings. These chests have a 3% chance of containing valuable Evernight or Genesis Tuning Stones, so don't neglect them.
