Summary
- Diablo 4 and part of the Vessel of Hatred DLC are free to play until January 28, including the Spiritborn class.
- Existing gamers can retain progress made during the free trial for the Vessel of Hatred DLC if they decide to upgrade.
- Diabo 4 and its expansion are discounted up to 45% during the promotion.
Blizzard has announced a free trial for Diablo 4 and part of its Vessel of Hatred DLC, which runs from January 21 to January 28. Diablo 4 has received this treatment in the past, but the latest one opens the game's first expansion, the Vessel of Hatred, to all players.
When Diablo 4 was released, it had server issues that were widely criticized by the community as many gamers couldn't play it. Since then, the action RPG has garnered a large following, reaching a peak of over 55,000 Steam players with the release of the Vessel of Hatred expansion. The Vessel of Hatred's launch divided the player base between those who purchased the DLC and those who stuck with the base version of the game and its seasonal offerings. As the Vessel of Hatred introduced the Spiritborn class to the game, this locked many players away from seeing if this class was a better pick for them than their current main. With the announcement that Diablo 4 and part of the Vessel of Hatred DLC are both available to try for free this week, even some returning players may have content to delve into.
Diablo 4: How to Start Season 7 Quest
Players who are confused about how to start Diablo 4’s Season of Witchcraft can find all the information they need in this guide.
The Diablo Twitter account recently announced that Diablo 4 and part of the Vessel of Hatred expansion are free to play across all platforms from now until January 28 at 10:00 A.M. Pacific Time. Diablo 4 has received free trials in the past, but this is only the second time that the Vessel of Hatred's Spiritborn is part of the trial. The full version of the Vessel of Hatred includes the Spiritborn class, Nahantu region, Dark Citadel dungeon, a continuation of the campaign, and many new items, some of which will be unlockable during the trial. While Diablo 4 and its Vessel of Hatred DLC offer hundreds of hours of potential content for new players, this may be an ideal way for existing gamers without the expansion to decide whether to upgrade. Although long-time gamers will be able to try the Spiritborn class from the Vessel of Hatred expansion, they won't be able to take their max-level characters to the Nahantu region or experience other aspects of the DLC.
Diablo 4 Players Have Until January 28 to Try the Vessel of Hatred for Free
On top of the Vessel of Hatred DLC in the free trial, players can also experience the newly released Diablo 4 Season 7 content. If gamers upgrade from Diablo 4's base game, they'll still have access to the Spiritborn they may have leveled during the free trial. This means that any progress they make during the free trial isn't lost when it expires on January 28. Beyond that, the game and its expansion are both discounted up to 45% during the promotion, allowing anyone who enjoys their experience during the free trial to save some money when they buy the game. This discount also applies to the Deluxe and Ultimate editions of the game which include a War Cat Mount, Canine Pet, and more.
As Blizzard continues to update Diablo 4, it may offer future free trials like this. With a long potential roadmap ahead of it, there may even be further expansions that offer similar trials beyond Vessel of Hatred.
