Diablo 4's surprise Gift of the Tree event is getting an extension due to the recent issues plaguing the game. It has been a big month for Diablo 4 as the popular isometric action RPG launched its newest season called Sins of the Horadrim, though a recent update has seemingly soured the mood.
On July 15, Blizzard released a new update for Diablo 4, a common occurrence for the live-service nature of the game. Unfortunately, this update had a negative impact on the game with unexpected issues and bugs, including the game crashing for many PC players. The issues have become so bad that Blizzard even rolled back the PC version of the game to help stabilize things on that platform, while Blizzard continues to work on addressing the larger issues with the recent update.
Diablo 4 Boss is Still Missing One In-Game Achievement
One Diablo 4 executive is missing a single in-game achievement despite having a truly impressive number of hours logged in the ARPG.
Although the update had unforeseen consequences, the patch also saw the launch of a surprise in-game Diablo 4 event, the return of the Gift of the Tree. For a limited time, Grim Favors have been enhanced, offering players a chance to earn bonus caches, though with the recent game issues, it hasn't been smooth sailing for players. As such, Diablo's Director of Social & Content Marketing, Adam Fletcher, confirmed that the Gift of the Tree event will be extended to make up for the problems hampering the event. Unfortunately, a specific extension date has not been given as of yet.
Blizzard Extends Diablo 4's Gift of the Tree Event
With the added time, players will have more opportunities to claim rewards during the event. Gift of the Tree in Diablo 4 rewards players with bonus caches for turning in Grim Favors to the Tree of Whispers. For the event, the bonus cache is known as a Collection of Chaos which rewards random items from common gear and resources to higher rarity gear that's tougher to find. Grim Favors can be earned by completing Whispers in various locations around the map once the story is complete, and act as a sort of bounty system players can interact with.
Current issues to the side, it appears that Blizzard has big plans for Diablo 4 in the future. Recently, big changes have been teased for Diablo 4 by content creators who secretly met with Blizzard. Details are scarce at the moment, but in this private meeting, Blizzard showed off the future of the game, leaving attendees excited about what's to come. Plenty of optimism has been shared about the game's future, with many saying their complaints have been heard and that Blizzard is "cooking" with the upcoming content.
