Azmodan returns in Diablo 4 as an enemy boss, but unlike hellish brothers and sisters, he doesn't get his own lair. Instead, he acts as a World Boss — Azmodan's appearance is subject to the game's World Boss timer, but in Season 11, players can also manually summon him by visiting the Fields of Desecration, provided they have the right items on hand.
In order to complete the second tier of Season Rank objectives in Diablo 4, you'll need to know how to summon Azmodan in Hawezar instead of waiting for his World Boss version to spawn. If you're not quite sure how to do this, here's a guide to show you how.
Diablo 4 Divine Gifts, Explained (Season 11)
Power up your characters in Diablo 4 by turning the essences of the Lesser Evils against them.
Diablo 4 Season 11 Azmodan Summoning Guide
To call Azmodan out, go to the Fields of Desecration southeast of Zarbinzet, then inspect the three Altars there. Each represents one of the Lesser Evils: Duriel, Andariel, and Belial, and when you touch one of them, demons will spawn and Azmodan will appear after fighting back a few waves.
The thing about summoning Azmodan in Diablo 4 is that there seems to be a level requirement. During our tests, we could easily summon Azmodan with a level 60 Paladin on Hard mode, but touching the altars with a level 14 Barbarian yielded no results. Incidentally, we ran into a group of level 60 players farming Azmodan on Normal mode, which implies there is no difficulty level requirement for summoning this boss. During a summoning attempt using the same level 14 Barbarian on Hard mode, even a random level 59 player seemed unable to summon Azmodan through the altars either.
It's safe to assume that you need to be at least level 60 in order to summon Azmodan in the Fields of Desecration, which makes sense since he's a World Boss, after all. Even our level 60 Paladin wasn't able to instantly delete Hard mode Azmodan, but if many max-level players banded together, he'll go down pretty quickly.
On a side note, farming Azmodan with a group might be a good way to speed level.
What are Corrupted Boss Items For?
When you beat Azmodan, chests will appear next to the boss altars in the Fields of Desecration. To open these, you'll need any 5 of the following:
- Corrupted Claw of Andariel
- Corrupted Eye of Belial
- Corrupted Horn of Duriel
These will open their respective Lesser Evil's loot chests. It's worth noting that these will reward you with gear that fits your level, and if you're already at level 60, you'll still get random Unique item drops even if you fight Azmodan in any of the pre-Torment difficulties.
