Following the buff that Xur received thanks to the new Season of the Drifter, players actually have things to look forward to when the exotic merchant comes around each week on Friday. The biggest change is that his inventory has expanded to include Forsaken exotics on occasion, something the Destiny 2 community has been waiting to see implemented for quite a while.
The other big change arrived last week with the new Invitations of the Nine questline. Every week, for up to nine weeks, players can pick up a quest item in Xur's inventory which offers some backstory and lore on the mysterious group known as the Nine, while giving players powerful loot to obtain as well once the task has been completed.
Seeing as it's Friday, here's where Destiny 2 players can find Xur as well as what the merchant has on offer for the weekend of March 22, 2019.
Where is Xur?
This weekend, Xur has returned to the Winding Cove in the European Dead Zone on Earth.
From the director, select the Winding Cove fast travel point. After landing, head towards the back of the zone where Fallen typically patrol along the cliffs. Xur can be found hanging out on a ledge nearby a crashed ship that overlooks the rest of the area.
Class Armor
Warlocks get the Forsaken exotic luck again this week and they're the only class with something new to look at. Here are all three gear pieces for this weekend:
Contraverse Hold - Warlock gauntlet
Another new Forsaken exotic this week for the Warlock class. Unlike last week's offering, the Contraverse Hold is specifically geared towards the Voidwalker subclass and those that like to toss grenades. Chaotic Exchanger is the intrinsic perk and enables the player to resist incoming damage while charging their Void grenade with Chaos Accelerant, Feed the Void, or Handheld Supernova. In addition, charged Void grenades return a random amount of grenade energy on a hit.
As of right now, the debate is out on this exotic, which used to be quite popular but has since taken a hit due to the recent Nova Warp nerf. Since that time, players have been turning more towards the Skull of Dire Ahamkara which caters more towards Nova Bomb users. Still, this is a solid exotic to pick up and worth having just in case Bungie decides to buff Nova Warp back a bit.
Gear Rolls:
- Mobility OR Resilience
- Fusion Rifle Loader, Hand Cannon Loader, Impact Induction
- Sniper Rifle Scavenger OR Machine Gun Scavenger
Gemini Jester - Hunter boots
Introduced inside of the Curse of Osiris expansion, the Gemini Jester boots add some trickery to the Hunter's loadout. Through the intrinsic perk Misdirection, using dodge causes nearby enemies to become disoriented and temporarily removes their radar.
This subclass neutral exotic offers a powerful bonus, especially those who enjoy facing off against other players in the Crucible. The range on its effect is further back than one would expect and it can even strike people who are on the other side of a wall. Keep in mind, that this ability also triggers the Titan's One-Eyed Mask perk Vengeance. It's also not going to provide much of a bonus to PvE activities, so whether it's worth it to pick these up is largely dependant on the player's playstyle.
Gear Rolls:
- Mobility OR Resilience
- Fusion Rifle Dexterity, Hand Cannon Dexterity, Hands On
- Sniper Rifle Scavenger OR Machine Gun Reserves
Mask of the Quiet One - Titan helm
While not a newer piece of gear, Mask of the Quiet One is a Titan exotic that hasn't been seen too much inside of Xur's inventory. Its intrinsic perk is Dreaded Visage which gives ability energy when the wearer is damaged. Not only that, when the player is critically damaged, any kill will cause maximum health to be regained.
The appeal of this helm is the fact that its subclass neutral. Outside of that, it's a viable exotic and will likely come in handy from time to time. It won't outclass some of the better Titan exotics out there, however, so this isn't a must buy this week.
Fixed Gear Rolls:
- Mobility OR Recovery
- Fusion Rifle Targeting, Hand Cannon Targeting, Hands On
- Sniper Rifle Reserves OR Machine Gun Reserves
Exotic Weapon
After being featured last month, the exotic SMG Huckleberry is back on sale. It's a primary slot weapon that is capable of dealing large amounts of damage very quickly thanks to its intrinsic perk Ride the Bull. While the trigger is held down, the weapon gains an increased rate of fire and recoil. In addition, any kills with the weapon will reload a portion of the magazine as well. The weapon also comes with rampage, which gives it increased damage (holding up to 3 stacks) after a kill, and Ricochet Rounds which causes bullets to bounce and redirect off hard surfaces.
Not much has changed since the last time this weapon has been featured. It's still a type of weapon that isn't for everyone, but is great at clearing out groups of enemies who are fairly close. Due to its chaotic nature, it may not be suited to the Crucible, which typically favors precision, but it’s great at clearing out large groups of enemies on PvE style modes like Gambit.
