With the largely underwhelming Guardian Games coming to a close with the Titans essentially wrapping up first place, all eyes have turned to Bungie as they continue to outline plans to fix Destiny 2 next season and beyond. While the company has yet to detail any narrative and gameplay moments from next season or the expected Fall release, the studio did confirm that Destiny 2 will be making the console leap to the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
This week's blog post also detailed changes coming to the much maligned Eververse store. While the microtransactions and items on offer has seemingly increased since the launch of Shadowkeep, Bungie is planning on removing any ships, Ghost shells, sparrows, or armor ornaments in the Eververse Store that are visually inspired by themes from Aspirational Activities. It's expected that these items will now be obtainable from their respective activities, rather than simply being purchased.
RELATED: Destiny 2 Making Small (But Important) Change to Xur Next Season
For now, the exotic gear merchant Xur has returned to the world of Destiny 2 for the next few days with new items for sale. Follow this guide for his location as well as a review of what he's currently selling for the weekend of May 8, 2020.
Where is Xur?
The floating Cabal barge on Nessus is the place to go this weekend for all exotic needs.
From the Director, head to Nessus and load into Watcher's Grave. Once loaded in, run forward until the zone opens up. The Golden Barge is floating nearby with Xur hanging out towards the back of the ship near the treasure chests.
Class Armor
Keep in mind that the Armor 2.0 update has caused Xur's items each week to mirror the rolls players get from pulling these items from their own Collections. As it stands, players should likely hold on to their shards if they already own the following items. Players can use the Fated Engram to pull something a little different if nothing in his inventory is appealing this week, including newer exotic items.
Here are Xur's three gear pieces this weekend:
Apotheosis Veil - Warlock helm
After taking a month off, the Apotheosis Veil helm is back in stock for Warlocks this weekend. Insatiable is its exotic perk, which immediately regenerates the player's health, melee, grenade, and rift energy when activating their super. Nearby allies also recharge class abilities faster as well.
It's a solid support exotic that isn't dependent on subclass. It's likely not great in all situations, but it could come in handy when playing difficult activities or even in competitive PvP modes. However, Bungie has identified this is one of the many exotics that have gotten a tweak next season, though it's likely not going to affect any players right now. Going forward, when this exotic drops for the player, its going to be a guaranteed +16 Intellect. Not bad and likely a reason why players may want to hold off spending resources on this item for this weekend.
Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +10
- Resilience +7
- Recovery +7
- Discipline +6
- Intellect +16
- Strength +6
Gwisin Vest - Hunter check armor
Spectral Blade Hunters should take note this week as the Gwisin Vest is again on sale. The main reason is due to its intrinsic perk called Roving Assassin. While the super is active, each spectral blade kill lets the player vanish and gain more super energy, making it last longer than normal.
Naturally, this is basically the go to exotic for Spectral Blades and is a must own.
Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +12
- Resilience +7
- Recovery +6
- Discipline +6
- Intellect +12
- Strength +6
Hallowfire Heart - Titan chest armor
Once again, for the third time in about a month or so, Xur has brought back the Hallowfire Heart is available once more for Sunbreaker Titan players. Sunfire Furnace, the item’s exotic perk, improves the recharge rate of all solar abilities. Additionally, it greatly improves ability recharge rates while the player’s super meter is fully charged. This distinction is important for Titans who use a powerful ability like melting point, which can give teams an edge in a mode like Gambit.
Considering how often it's been on sale, it's quite likely that most players already have it who want it. For those who may have missed out, the Hallowfire Heart is a solid Sunbreaker exotic choice, especially to go along with the solar subclass changes the game received a few months ago.
Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +8
- Resilience +7
- Recovery +10
- Discipline +6
- Intellect +12
- Strength +6
Exotic Weapon
Comically, Xur's exotic weapon this week is the Hard Light. A couple weeks ago, this weapon was a monster that was used by most of the player base for how strong it was. Unfortunately, the nerf hammer finally fell on the weapon, reducing it's effectiveness. However, it's still a good weapon, even if it may not be quite as good as it was earlier this season. It's worth a pick up, especially considering the elemental damage can be changed simply by reloading.
For those who don't know, Hard Light basically shoots lasers thanks to its Intrinsic perk, Volatile Light. Rounds fired from the weapon have reduced damage falloff, overpenetrate targets, and ricochet of hard surfaces. The more they ricochet, the more damage they inflict.
Additional perks:
- Polygonal Rifling
- Alloy Magazines
- Composite Stock
Here's the complete rundown of Xur's entire stock in Destiny 2 for May 8, 2020:
- Apotheosis Veil (Warlock helm) – 23 Legendary Shards
- Gwisin Vest (Hunter chest armor) – 23 Legendary Shards
- Hallowfire Heart (Titan chest armor) – 23 Legendary Shards
- Hard Light (Assault Rifle) - 29 Legendary Shards
