Xur has returned again to Destiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. Another week and another big reveal in advance of The Final Shape expansion from Bungie. The focus for this week was on weapons and the balance changes that are being applied to the perks, gun types, as well as various exotics. Certain weapons, like The Lament, are in line for some nerfs, while Bungie is planning to boost a handful of Destiny 2 exotics, like Necrochasm.
This week's Destiny 2 weekly reset also brought with it the return of Zero Hour, an older exotic mission which gave fans access to the Outbreak Perfected pulse rifle. As players battle through the ruined original Tower social space from Destiny, they'll eventually come up against the labyrinthian robot menace known as TR3-VR, a fan favorite from the last time this mission was in the game. Just like The Whisper, players can unlock additional crafting perks and hunt down a new ship by completing puzzles over the next few weeks.
Destiny 2 Reveals Prismatic Exotic Class Item Perks
Bungie confirms the perk combinations available when equipping the new exotic class items with the Destiny 2 prismatic subclass.
With the weekend now here, players can visit the exotic merchant Xur and check out an all-new selection of exotics and legendary gear for Destiny 2 players. Follow this guide for his current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he's brought for the weekend of May 17, 2024.
Where is Xur?
This weekend, players will want to visit Nessus to find Xur.
Specifically, fast travel to Watcher's Grave and then immediately follow the path to the northeastern side of the zone, avoiding the pit that typically houses Vex public events. Alongside the side of the trail will be a massive tree, which players will need to climb to find Xur standing on one of the massive branches.
Destiny 2 Class Armor and Exotic Cipher
Xur's role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.

Exotic Perks:
- Dearly Departed - Your Rift provides damage reduction to allied Guardians standing in it. Grants Rift energy when you are critically wounded. On your death, creates a healing rift on your corpse.
While it may not be the best roll of the week or even the best exotic available, it is an interesting one because Recovery is stacked at 30.

Raiju's Harness - Hunter chest armor
Exotic Perk:
- Mobius Conduit - Deactivate Arc Staff early to create a blinding explosion and gain a temporary boost to Arc weapon damage. Arc Staff consumes energy more slowly when not attacking.
Another arc-specific exotic this week for Hunters, especially for Arc Staff users. However, the main issue is the roll, which is one of the lower that Xur has had in a while.

Aeon Safe - Titan Gauntlets
Exotic Perk:
- Sect of Force temporarily increases player reload speed and weapon swap speed after rapid precision hits. Taking down a champion or boss also gives nearby fireteam members a burst of grenade and melee energy.
- Sect of Vigor gives the player class energy when teammates die, then gains full class energy after reviving. When nearby players cast their super, allies gain a burst of healing.
- Sect of Insight has a chance to drop an orb of power after precision weapon takedowns. When using a finisher on an elite enemy, special ammo is dropped. Using a finisher on a boss or miniboss, heavy ammo drops instead.
- Foebreaker Chant
While Titans enjoy the highest rolled exotic this week, it's not a particularly good one with a higher than necessary mobility stat. Also, the exotics themselves, while much improved, aren't likely going to replace any of the current top exotic picks.

Xur's Exotic Weapon
Arbalest can be a powerful ally, especially when dealing with some of the more difficult activities within Destiny 2, thanks to its ability to quickly destroy enemy shields as well as Barrier Champions. While it's certainly not a new exotic, this is one worth picking up for players who don't have it.
Weapon Perks:
- Compounding Force - Fires slugs that cause massive damage to combatant shields. Strong against [Shield-Piercing] Barrier Champions.
- Disruption Break - Breaking an enemy's shield with this weapon makes them more vulnerable to Kinetic damage for a brief period.

- Projection Fuse
- Composite Stock
Hawkmoon Hand Cannon Perks
At this point, Xur is only selling Hawkmoon with randomized rolls, but its time is limited once Harbinger is ultimately added to the Exotic Mission Rotator and makes the hand cannon craftable. Either way, here is the roll Xur has this weekend:
