Destiny 2: Xur Exotic Armor, Weapon, and Recommendations…

Xur has returned again to Destiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. In terms of exotics, the Season of the Deep scout rifle Wicked Implement is going to be getting a few buffs very soon. Bungie confirmed the news in this week's blog post, indicating that it has compiled fan feedback and has plans to strengthen the gun including tweaking the timing window for its exotic perk called Creeping Attrition.

The incoming buffs should please fans who have already unlocked the weapon, though for those who haven't yet, things may continue to be a bit difficult for now. Recently, Destiny 2 players have noted that Deep Dive missions have become more chaotic and confusing than ever when matchmaking as players are not always on the same steps or have the same goals considering how many different things a player can complete during these activities. As a result of that, many players are going their own directions, bypassing areas that others need to get to in order to complete their own agendas instead.

For now, the weekend merchant Xur has made a return to the world of Destiny 2. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he's brought for the weekend of July 14, 2023.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, players should be heading to the Winding Cove in the EDZ.

Fast travel to the Winding Cove zone and immediately head towards the back where the Fallen typically patrol. Climb the cliffs back here to find Xur standing on a ledge not too far from a crashed ship.

Class Armor and Exotic Cipher

Xur's role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.

Xur continues to sell even more gear outside his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.

Exotic Armor

Crown of Tempests - Warlock helmet

Exotic Perk:

Conduction Tines - Arc ability or jolt final blows increase the recharge rate of your Arc abilities and extend the duration of Stormtrance.

Arc Warlocks should absolutely have this helmet on hand especially when running the Stormtrance super. Being able to reduce ability cooldowns as well as extend the length of the super is extremely valuable. Definitely worth a purchase this week for those who may not have this one, even if the stat roll isn't quite as good as it could be.

Fr0st-EE5 - Hunter leg armor

Exotic Perk:

Rapid Cooldown - Increased grenade, melee, and dodge regeneration while sprinting. Dodging increases your sprint speed.

The "Frosties" are a solid if unspectacular exotic for Hunters. They're subclass neutral and help with reducing ability cooldowns while boosting run speed after a dodge, which is helpful in all instances. It's certainly not a top exotic, but it remains solid. The roll is the highest of the bunch, so at the very least, it may be worth grabbing if just to replace a worse roll.

Exotic Perk:

Transfusion Matrix - Kills with Arc melee abilities trigger health regeneration and restore melee energy.

Another solid survivability exotic, players can trigger health regen and melee energy when getting kills with arc melee abilities. However, the exotic is obviously completely useless with other subclasses, so this one remains one remains very situational. Worse yet, the roll is the worst of the bunch this week only coming in at a 62 overall, even if it pretty balanced.

Exotic Weapon

Vigilance Wing is a unique pulse rifle in Destiny 2. Its intrinsic perk called Hard Truths makes this weapon more unique from traditional pulse rifles as this weapon has a five shot burst instead of the typical three. In addition, the player using the weapon gains instant health regeneration and increased movement speed when a nearby ally is killed due to the trait Last Stand.

The five shot burst along with the fact that pulse rifles are still a very strong weapon type in Destiny 2 makes this a solid weapon to pick up for those who don't yet have one.

Hawkmoon and Dead Man's Tale Rolls

Since Season 16 removed the Presage and Harbinger exotic missions, Xur is also selling both Hawkmoon and Dead Man's Tale with randomized rolls. Players should visit him each weekend as he'll be carrying different rolls.
