Xur has returned again to Destiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. Episode Heresy continues to lurk right around the corner as players continue to wrap up any outstanding challenges or content before the switch is made. Episode Revenant also kicked off the Past is Prologue limited time event during the Destiny 2 reset, acting as a sort of catch up mechanic for players with resources and other gear that can be claimed.
Bungie also continued sharing new details regarding Episode Heresy. Destiny 2's endgame PvP mode Trials of Osiris is getting a substantial rework in Episode Heresy as Bungie attempts to make it more rewarding and fun for all players. Essentially, any 7 wins will earn a trip to the Lighthouse, though players that manage a win streak during that time will earn better rewards. Trials of Osiris is also seeing slight mechanic and matchmaking changes as well, placing the focus more on combat rather than objective play.
Destiny 2 Update Makes Big Changes to Weapons and Exotic Gear
Bungie releases a big Destiny 2 weapons and armor update, addressing lingering bugs while also making balance changes to certain archetypes.
With the weekend here, the exotic merchant Xur is back with a new inventory of gear for Destiny 2 players. Follow this guide for his current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he's brought for the weekend of January 24, 2025.
Where is Xur?
Xur has now taken up permanent residence in the Bazaar area inside The Tower, so there's no more hunting when the weekend comes around.
Since the Bazaar is located between both fast travel points, players can pick either one to load into. Head into the area where Ikora and Hawthorne are and look for the Ramen Shop towards the back wall. While facing the shop, the alley is to the right, where Xur is standing.
Destiny 2 Class Armor and Exotic Cipher
Xur's role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.

- Your Rifts gain the additional ability to increase weapon reload speeds. Empowering Rift makes weapons effective over longer ranges.
The lowest roll of Xur's offering this week, it unfortunately doesn't move the need much these days, so it is by no means a must purchase.

- Increases the chaining capabilities of Arcbolt Grenades. Damaging enemies with Jolt lightning strikes and collecting Ionic Traces both grant additional Arcbolt Grenade energy. Arcbolt Grenades stun Overload Champions and delay their health regeneration.
Similar to the Warlock, this exotic is one of the weaker options, mainly because it only really impacts Arcbolt grenades, so it usefulness is tied to a very specific build.

At one point, this was a Crucible monster, subjected to numerous nerfs due to how popular and effective it was. While it isn't quite on that level anymore, it's still a useful tool for Titans.
