Summary
- Xur returned to Destiny 2 within the Bazaar area of The Tower.
- Exotic weapons this week include a new Hawkmoon roll, The Huckleberry, Wardcliff Coil, and Sunshot.
- For exotic armor, Xur has the Mechaneer's Tricksleeves, An Insurmountable Skullfort, and the Chromatic Fire.
Xur has returned again to Destiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. The final act of Episode Revenant has finally arrived, giving fans closure to what has been an uneven experience for many players due to bugs and other frustrating issues. The final act also brings about the Kell's Fall exotic mission for Destiny 2, letting players acquire the slug shotgun known as Slayer's Fang.
In the first blog post of 2025, Bungie also surprisingly revealed the Festival of Lost armor sets for 2025, giving Destiny 2 players gear based on horror icons. Dubbed Slayers vs Spectres, fans will likely notice armor that resembles Jason, Ghostface, and even Slenderman. Players can vote on which sets they want to see added to the shop, though Bungie has also promised to make the losing set available sometime later.
Destiny 2: How to Get the Slayer Baron Title
Here are all the challenges you need to complete in order to get the Slayer Baron title in Destiny 2.
In the meantime, the weekend merchant Xur is back with a new inventory of gear for Destiny 2 players. Follow this guide for his current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he's brought for the weekend of January 10, 2025.
Where is Xur?
Xur has now taken up permanent residence in the Bazaar area inside The Tower, so there's no more hunting when the weekend comes around.
Since the Bazaar is located between both fast travel points, players can pick either one to load into. Head into the area where Ikora and Hawthorne are and look for the Ramen Shop towards the back wall. While facing the shop, the alley is to the right, where Xur is standing.
Destiny 2 Class Armor and Exotic Cipher
Xur's role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.
Xur's Exotic Armor
Chromatic Fire - Warlock chest armor
Exotic Perk:
-
Crystalline Transistor
- Precision final blows from Kinetic weapons create an explosion in the element of your equipped Super and apply a matching elemental effect.
Another solid PvE exotic that does a good job dealing with mobs of enemies, so perhaps a good item to take to activities like Onslaught. The roll is the best of the week as well, so it may be worth picking up.
Stat Values (66 Total):
- Mobility +7
- Resilience +9
- Recovery +19
- Discipline +15
- Intellect +14
- Strength +2
Mechaneer's Tricksleeves - Hunter gauntlets
Exotic Perk:
-
Spring-Loaded Mounting
- Increases Sidearm airborne effectiveness, ready speed, and reload speed. While you're critically wounded, swapping to a Sidearm reloads it and increases its damage. While this effect is active, Sidearm final blows reload the weapon and extend the effect's duration.
A Sidearm specific exotic, so it's fairly niche anyway. As such, it's hard to recommend.
Stat Values (65 Total):
- Mobility +16
- Resilience +17
- Recovery +2
- Discipline +18
- Intellect +2
- Strength +10
An Insurmountable Skullfort - Titan helmet
Exotic Perk:
-
Transfusion Matrix
- Kills with Arc melee abilities trigger health regeneration and restore melee energy.
This one is hard to recommend this week due to its low stat roll and overly high Mobility, which isn't ideal for a Titan. While this is a solid PvE exotic in general, this one in particular isn't really worth spending the Strange Coins on.
Stat Values (63 total):
- Mobility +15
- Resilience +17
- Recovery +3
- Discipline +16
- Intellect +2
- Strength +10
