Xur has returned again to Destiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. It was a big blog post this week as Bungie revealed major upcoming changes to Destiny 2, starting with the Crucible. The next major update on March 5 will bring sweeping changes to the Crucible with everything from weapon archtypes, player health, and ability cooldown and damage getting altered in some capacity. Certain exotic weapons like the Fighting Lion, Crimson, and Devil's Ruin are also seeing a few nerfs as well.
Not to be out done, Bungie also outlined plans to tweak abilities in Destiny 2 as well. Strand and Solar abilities, in particular, are seeing big changes, with Threadlings seeing major changes especially. However, many Solar players, especially those using the Ember of Mercy, will be pleased to note that the longstanding Restoration bug, where their timers would be decreased or outright reset under certain conditions, is also being fixed within this update as well.
Friday's reset has arrived, which means Xur is back again with a whole selection of exotics and legendary gear for Destiny 2 players over the next few days. Follow this guide for his current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he's brought for the weekend of February 16, 2023.
Where is Xur?
Over the next couple of days, Destiny 2 can find Xur hanging out in the Tower.
Fast travel to the main Tower waypoint and once loaded in, head to the left and follow the path to the hangar area. Head to the left side and approach the back where the catwalks and platforms overlooking the snowy mountains are as Xur should also be standing there waiting..
Class Armor and Exotic Cipher
Xur's role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.
Xur continues to sell even more gear outside his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.
Exotic Armor
Felwinter's Helm - Warlock Helmet
Exotic Perk:
- Warlord's End - Powered melee final blows create a burst of energy that weakens nearby targets. Finishers and final blows against more powerful targets increase the radius of the burst and the length of the weakening effect.
Back on sale after a 2-week absence is Felwinter's Helm, an exotic for players who like to weaken groups of enemies with energy explosions. This time around, the roll is much stronger, coming in at a 66 overall. Unfortunately, mobility and Intellect are at a rediculously high 29, while everything else is set at a paltry 2. The roll isn't ideal at all, so this one is hard to recommend.
Stat Values (66 Total):
- Mobility +29
- Resilience +2
- Recovery +2
- Discipline +2
- Intellect +29
- Strength +2
Gwisn Vest - Hunter chest armor
Exotic Perk:
- Roving Assassin - Each Spectral Blades kill made before going into stealth will restore more Super energy.
Very straightforward, but effective, the Gwisn Vest is specifically made for the Spectral Blades version of the Nightstalker, able to restore super energy following kills. The unfortunate downfall of this version is that the roll is, by far, the lowest of the bunch, so with that and the fact that it is so specialized, it's not a must-buy this week.
Stat Values (62 Total):
- Mobility +8
- Resilience +19
- Recovery +6
- Discipline +14
- Intellect +13
- Strength +2
Wormgod Caress - Titan Gauntlets
Exotic Perk:
- Burning Fists - Defeating a target with melee or a finisher grants escalating melee damage, which decays over time. Higher levels of Burning Fists grant increased weapon damage.
The big winner this week are Titan players, as the Wormgod Caress is the highest rolled exotic item and is definitely something worth a look this week for those who enjoy punching enemies.
Stat Values (68 total):
- Mobility +6
- Resilience +23
- Recovery +7
- Discipline +2
- Intellect +7
- Strength +23
Exotic Weapon
Not nearly as destructive as it was earlier in the Destiny 2 lifecycle, where the Lord of Wolves shotgun was one of the most used weapons in the game thanks to a bug that caused the weapon to basically just melt enemies. While Bungie let the gun run wild in Crucible a little longer than it would have liked, the gun is nowhere near as fearsome as it once was. Even still, it remains a strong close quarters weapon and is worth a look for those who don't yet have it.
The Intrinsic perk is called Shrapnel Launcher which causes the gun to fire a powerful short-range burst of solar damage. However, the Release the Wolves trait is what really enhances this weapon's potency as players that hold the reload button can swap to a longer, more powerful burst.
Weapon perks:
- Chambered Compensator
- Extended Mag
- Composite Stock
Hawkmoon Rolls
At this point, Xur is only selling Hawkmoon with randomized rolls, but its time is limited once Harbinger is ultimately added to the Exotic Mission Rotator and makes the hand cannon craftable. Either way, here is the roll Xur has this weekend:
Hawkmoon Rolls:
- Extended Barrel
- Alloy Magazine
- Snapshot Sights
- Smooth Grip
