Xur has returned again to Destiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. It's a big weekend for Xur fans as Bungie announced Destiny 2's exotic class items would on sale from time to time. Since this is the first weekend that Xur has arrived since the update, the exotics will be available with random rolls for those who completed the Dual Destiny mission. For those who haven't, there'll be an Exotic Cipher instead.
This week's update also finally managed to fix an issue with another popular exotic, the Graviton Lance. After an accidental change tanked the weapon's rate of fire, Destiny 2's Update 8.0.5.2 has managed to revert the changes, allowing the weapon to fire and detonate enemies as expected once again.
Some Destiny 2 Players' Names Have Been Changed
A strange bug impacts some Destiny 2 player accounts and changes their names, and Bungie is working on a fix to reverse these changes.
As expected, the weekend merchant Xur has brought a brand-new inventory of exotics and legendary gear for Destiny 2 players. Follow this guide for his current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he's brought for the weekend of August 23, 2024.
Where is Xur?
Xur has now taken up permanent residence in the Bazaar of The Tower, so there's no more hunting when the weekend comes around.
Since the Bazaar area is between both fast travel points, players can pick either one to load into. Head into the area where Ikora and Hawthorne are and look for the little Ramen Shop towards the back wall. While facing the shop, the alley is to the right, where Xur is standing.
Destiny 2 Class Armor and Exotic Cipher
Xur's role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.
Xur's Exotic Armor
Claws of Ahamkara - Warlock gauntlets
Exotic Perks:
- The Whispers - Gain an additional melee charge. Powered melee final blows spawn an Orb of Power.
A fairly balanced roll for an exotic which doesn't do anything very fancy. Having a second melee strike, especially with the ability to spawn an Orb of Power on a powered final, is a helpful tool.

Wormhusk Crown - Hunter helmet
Exotic Perk:
- Burning Souls - Dodging gives a small health and shield bump.
While it was very effective a few years ago, the Wormhusk Crown is still a great option for survivability. Unfortunately, the roll is the lowest of the bunch this week and likely, Hunters already have a better roll on hand.

Doom Fang Pauldron - Titan gauntlets
Exotic Perk:
- Horns of Doom - Defeating targets with Void damage has a chance to grant an escalating bonus to damage with Void weapons. Defeating targets with Void melee grants Super energy. While Sentinel Shield is active, defeating targets with melee attacks recharges Shield Throw, which extends your Super on hitting a target.
A little more balanced than last week's Heart of Inmost Light, for many players, the mobility stat will still be a little too high, but it's much more manageable with certain mods. May be worth a look this week for Void Titans.

Xur Inventory Items
Year 7 in Destiny 2 has upgraded Xur's inventory, adding a true rank progression system, rewards, as well as focusing options. Xur also has more than just weapons and armor as well, including:

Hawkmoon - Hand Cannon
- Paracausal Shot - Final blows and precision hits with Hawkmoon grant stacks of Paracausal Charge. The final round in the magazine deals bonus damage based on the number of stacks. Stowing Hawkmoon on the final round removes this bonus.

- Heavy Grip
Sweet Business - Auto Rifle
- Payday - Larger magazine. Increased accuracy when firing from the hip. Picking up Special or Heavy ammo immediately reloads this weapon.
- Business Time - Sustained fire boosts range and rate of fire.

- Composite Stock
Wavesplitter - Trace Rifle
- Harmonic Laser - Laser damage has three power levels that oscillate while the trigger is held down.
- Supercharged Battery - Collecting an Orb of Power grants a period of maximum power that starts with an automatic reload. Sustained fire in this mode suppresses targets.

The Colony - Grenade Launcher
- Insectoid Robot Grenades - This weapon's grenades are insectoid robots that chase targets and explode close to them. Consumes tougher combatants to create additional robots.
- Serve the Colony - Insectoid robot grenades quickly repopulate the magazine from reserves while the Colony is unequipped.
