Xur has returned again to Destiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. Bungie continues to look ahead by offering players a glimpse at upcoming quality of life changes, while continuing to tease the future of Destiny. Following the recent round of studio layoffs, morale seemed fairly low in the community, with many worried about the game's future, though Bungie seems keen on proving that Destiny has a bright future ahead.
In the short-term, Bungie announced it is making Destiny 2 Exotic Class armor slightly easier to acquire. While recent changes haven't had the impact that fans were hoping, next week will see an update that will add these exotics to Xur's random weekend rotation. While the merchant will have the exotic class items on sale starting on August 23, the following weekends will be randomized like usual, so players will need to keep a sharp eye out for when these items are available..
Destiny 2 Update Accidentally Nerfs Exotic Weapon
Following the most recent update, one of the more popular exotic weapons in Destiny 2 received an unfortunate and accidental nerf.
For now, the weekend merchant Xur has brought a brand-new inventory of exotics and legendary gear for Destiny 2 players. Follow this guide for his current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he's brought for the weekend of August 16, 2024.
Where is Xur?
Xur has now taken up permanent residence in the Bazaar of The Tower, so there's no more hunting when the weekend comes around.
Since the Bazaar area is between both fast travel points, players can pick either one to load into. Head into the area where Ikora and Hawthorne are and look for the little Ramen Shop towards the back wall. While facing the shop, the alley is to the right, where Xur is standing.
Destiny 2 Class Armor and Exotic Cipher
Xur's role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they're necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.
Xur's Exotic Armor
Sunbracers - Warlock gauntlets
Exotic Perks:
- Helium Spirals - Increases the duration of Solar Grenades. Solar melee kills grant unlimited Solar Grenade energy for a brief time.
Back on sale 2 weeks later, this roll is slightly higher than the last time, though curiously enough, the mobility stat is unfortunately the highest one of the bunch. For players that don't mind that, this is certainly worth a pickup and maybe adding some mods can counteractt he mobility issue.

Mechaneer's Tricksleeves - Hunter gauntlets
Exotic Perk:
- Spring-Loaded Mounting - Increases Sidearm airborne effectiveness, ready speed, and reload speed. While you're critically wounded, swapping to a Sidearm reloads it and increases its damage. While this effect is active, Sidearm final blows reload the weapon and extend the effect's duration.
Really, this is only an exotic for Sidearm users. Everyone else need not apply. It's not the most unique or powerful exotic currently available, but it does offer some nice bonuses to sidearms, and considering the roll is fairly high, this may be a good one to pick up if nothing else than to just replace a collection roll.

Heart of Inmost Light - Titan chest armor
Exotic Perk:
- Overflowing Light - Using an ability (grenade, melee, or Barricade) empowers the other two abilities. Empowered means abilities have faster regen, melees and grenades do more damage, and Barricades have more hit points.
Similar to the Sunbracers, the Heart of Inmost Light is back again after it was on offer 2 weeks ago. The roll is better overall, but the big problem is that mobility is again way too high for Titans which makes this a tough item to recommend.

Xur Inventory Items
Year 7 in Destiny 2 has upgraded Xur's inventory, adding a true rank progression system, rewards, as well as focusing options. Xur also has more than just weapons and armor as well, including:

Hawkmoon - Hand Cannon
- Paracausal Shot - Final blows and precision hits with Hawkmoon grant stacks of Paracausal Charge. The final round in the magazine deals bonus damage based on the number of stacks. Stowing Hawkmoon on the final round removes this bonus.

Lord of Wolves - Shotgun
- Shrapnel Launcher - Fires a powerful short-range burst of Solar damage.
- Release the Wolves - Greatly increases rate of fire and shoots in full auto.

- Composite Stock
The Huckleberry - Submachine Gun
- Ride the Bull - Increased rate of fire and recoil while you're holding down the trigger. Kills with this weapon reload a portion of the magazine.
- Rampage - Kills with this weapon temporarily grant increased damage. Stacks 3x.

Thunderlord - Machine Gun
- Reign Havoc - Final blows with this weapon generate stunning lighting strikes from above. Strong against [Disruption] Overload Champions.
- Feeding Frenzy - When Personal Assistant is active, this weapon has better target acquisition, deals significantly more precision damage, and jolts the target.
