The Dawning is a holiday tradition in Destiny 2. Every year, it sees social spaces like the Tower decorated with bright lights and lets Guardians pelt each other with snowballs while listening to Christmas-like music. There are limited-time quests associated with The Dawning in Destiny 2, and so some fans of the game may be wondering when the event is ending, so they know whether they need to prioritize those quests or not.

The Dawning in Destiny 2 will end on Tuesday, January 5, 2021. Players have until that point to acquire and complete the associated Dawning quests, which includes the Exotic quest And to All a Good Flight, which players can acquire from Eva Levante. Completing And to All a Good Flight will net Destiny 2 players with the Starfarer 7M ship. The quest is fairly straightforward, tasking players with baking various goods in their oven using ingredients that are dropped by enemies throughout Destiny 2's various game worlds.

After players have successfully baked everything they need, they next have to deliver the goods to the associated characters. This includes Titan Vanguard Zavala, shipwright Amanda Holliday, and various other characters found at the Tower. This is a multi-step quest, though players can work on it while doing other things in the game.

Once Destiny 2's The Dawning event ends on January 5 with the weekly reset, it and all of its associated content will be removed from the game. Unless Bungie changes its plans, it's highly likely that The Dawning event will be back in Destiny 2 next year with new content for fans of the game to check out, so those that miss out this year have that to look forward to at least.

Throughout 2021, there should be plenty for Destiny 2 enthusiasts to look forward to, including other holiday events. It's likely that the Crimson Days event will be back in February, and then around Halloween season, it's likely that the Festival of the Lost will be back in full swing. Between those holiday events, Destiny 2 fans can participate in the game's seasonal activities, with the game currently in Season 12, aka Season of the Hunt.

A major new Destiny 2 expansion is also expected to drop in 2021. Since Bungie has revealed its plans for Destiny 2 for the next couple of years, fans can look forward to The Witch Queen expansion dropping at some point this year, with Lightfall coming in 2022. And with Destiny 2 having recently expanded to next-generation platforms, it doesn't seem as though the game is going anywhere anytime soon.

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
