Bungie releases Update 8.2.5.3 for Destiny 2, fixing bugs and applying a few nerfs to fan-favorite weapons like Redrix's Estoc. It's been a busy reset this week as Act 3 of Episode Heresy has officially launched, giving Destiny 2 players the next bit of story content alongside the return of the Sunless Cell strike.
Alongside the continuing Hive-focused story, Act 3 of Episode Heresy will also be adding more things to do over time. Crucible players will be getting access to a new game mode called Heavy Metal, which lets teams battle each other using Drakes and Brigs against one another. For many, though, the biggest addition will be Rite of the Nine, a Destiny 2 activity that was accidentally released early. This activity serves as a remixed collection of dungeons with new rewards to collect. In the meantime, Bungie is shaking up the sandbox a bit with a brand-new update.
Sea of Thieves is Crossing Over With Destiny 2
Sea of Thieves announces a crossover with Destiny 2, and reveals all the items players can buy to customize ships and characters.
The latest update for the game continues to make adjustments to Redrix's Estoc. Since it became available as a competitive reward, Redrix's Estoc has continued to be adjusted in Destiny 2 as the pulse rifle remains a very popular choice for Crucible players. Previous nerfs haven't been able to put a dent in its popularity, though with this update, Bungie is reducing its Range, Handling, and Aim Assist stats, so it'll be interesting if this finally pushes players to use something else.
Outside of the big Redrix nerf, this latest update also makes further adjustments to other weapon archetypes, fixing bugs with Support Frame Auto Rifles and Rocket Assisted Sidearms. Machine Guns no longer gain a large amount of ammo from heavy crates in PvP, and Bungie applied nerfs to the Lone Wolf and Closing Time weapon perks. Episode Heresy's Court of Blades activity also had a potential soft-lock issue fixed, and Dire Taken Captains have been removed from the "randomized fodder selection" due to their excessive burst damage.
Even with a few more weeks of story content, there's a bit of uncertainty about where Destiny 2 is heading over the next few months, with most expecting Episode: Heresy to remain live for a while. Bungie has been slowly teasing new content for Codename Frontiers, the next big phase for Destiny 2 following Episode Heresy, but there's still a lot that players don't know about it, especially an expected release window.
