Destiny 2 Titan Exotics That Need a Rework Before The Final Shape

Destiny 2 is constantly changing and rebalancing the meta and overall sandbox, including some of the game’s top-tier Exotic armor. Players are expecting Destiny 2’ s next major expansion to bring on plenty of balancing changes, and Titans have plenty of worthy candidates that are overdue for an update.

Destiny 2’s Titans are the game’s resident melee class, and with that in mind, some of the melee-specific Exotic Titan armor leaves much to be desired. Outside of this, a few other pieces also deserve a rework, hopefully in time for players to jump into The Final Shape expansion with some of these Exotic armor pieces.

Exotic Titan Armor Pieces That Deserve an Update in Destiny 2

• An Insurmountable Skullfort

Half of this Exotic's use is to regenerate health from Arc melee kills, but the Knockout Fragment for the Arc 3.0 subclass already does this. The refunded melee energy is also a nice touch, although there are a variety of Armor Charge mods that do this as well. This Exotic is still plenty useful, but it’s so easy to replicate its perks with Destiny 2’s current buildcrafting tools that the helmet has lost some of its value as an Exotic.

• Arbor Warden

The effect of this armor is extremely unique, but it feels like this Exotic would have more of an impact if its utility were made into a Fragment or Aspect for the Titan 3.0 Subclasses. Being able to place barriers from a distance is an interesting concept, although it could be a lot more useful if players could pair this with other Exotics that affect Titan barricades, like Citan's Ramparts and Hoarfrost-Z.

• Heart of Inmost Light

Not too long ago this Exotic chest piece was considered one of the best Titan Exotics to use on any of the Light and Dark subclasses, but after it was heavily nerfed, Destiny 2's Armor Charge mods can do most of what this armor is good for. The increased ability damage from this Exotic is something that Armor Charge mods can’t do, but the timing to get optimal use of this damage boost funnels players into a playstyle that isn’t always practical.

• Mask of the Quiet One

The health that this Exotic provides on kills doesn't apply to the shielding that makes up the majority of a Guardian's total defenses. When used passively, this is still one of the best Titan Exotics, but in order to get the best use out of it players arguably need to invest in other ways to heal themselves, and improving an Exotic this way is a slippery slope. With the right setup, players can make this Exotic a powerhouse, however, there are plenty of other Exotics that are ready to use without relying on additional investments. Something as small as changing this Exotic's healing to a period of health and shield regeneration could be a game-changer.

• Point-Contact Cannon Brace

This one could benefit from a major overhaul considering how similar it is to other melee-based Exotics that also pair well with the Arc subclass. Even though An Insurmountable Skullfort also deserves a slight rework, it’s a much better Exotic to use. As it stands, this Exotic doesn’t deal much damage, so its current value comes from the melee ability energy restored for getting Thunderclap kills, which can be easily replicated with armor mods.

• Severance Enclosure

If any of the character classes in Destiny 2 should have Exotic gear that buffs finisher kills, it makes sense for Titans to have one as the resident melee class. This piece is fundamentally good, but it could benefit from a damage boost so that it's more in line with some of the other exotics for melee-based Titan builds that often break the game with their absurd damage.
