  • Obtain Flickering Blessings from chests and activities, and unlock Pale Blessings by completing Overthrow activities and planting Luminescent Seeds.

Destiny 2's new expansion, The FInal Shape, officially brings the Light and Darkness Saga to an exciting and emotional conclusion, tying up loose ends while simultaneously offering plenty of new features. One of the biggest additions The Final Shape brings to Destiny 2 is the Pale Heart location — a strange land inside the Traveler that takes shape according to the experiences and memories of those who enter it. The Pale Heart has multiple biomes for players to experience and a variety of different activities for them to complete as well. However, these activities don't become available until the Pale Heart opens up as an explorable location after players have completed the campaign.

While players are exploring the Pale Heart, they will eventually discover a unique mechanic that has been added to Destiny 2 with The Final Shape. Inside the Traveler, players can acquire destination mods called Traveler's Blessings. As Destination Mods are brand-new to Destiny 2, as well as the Pale Heart location, learning what Traveler's Blessings are and how they work is essential to players' progress within the Pale Heart.

Everything to Know About Traveler's Blessings in Destiny 2: The Final Shape

What Traveler's Blessings Are and How They Work in Destiny 2: The Final Shape

Traveler's Blessings work similarly to weapon and armor mods in Destiny 2, only rather than modifying weapons, they modify the Pale Heart destination. Specifically, they function as a variety of helpful buffs for players as they explore the Pale Heart and complete activities within it. Unfortunately, these mods eventually expire, with none lasting longer than 27 hours before they are gone. Even so, as long as players are spending plenty of time in the Pale Heart (and there is little reason not to at this point in the game), they will find themselves acquiring plenty of helpful Traveler's Blessing mods if they know where to look.

Traveler's Blessings come in two forms: Flickering Blessings and Pale Blessings. Only one of each type of blessing can be equipped at a time, but the benefits they provide are often worth the limitations. There are eight different Flickering Blessings and seven different Pale Blessings, each of which provides unique benefits as players explore the Pale Heart. Flickering Blessings provide a modification to players' traversal and combat skills, so long as the blessing is equipped and not expired. These Blessings grant temporary buffs that provide various forms of increased regeneration, whether it be abilities or health. One Blessing even grants an overshield.

How to Obtain and Activate Traveler's Blessings in Destiny 2: The Final Shape

Obtaining Traveler's Blessings in Destiny 2 first depends on which blessings players are attempting to acquire. Flickering Blessings are obtained through a variety of means, including opening Cyst chests, Lost Sector chests, Overthrow Level 2 and Level 3 encounter chests, Pathfinder Field Assignment Chests, and Triage chests. There's only a chance that a Flickering Blessing will be obtained upon opening one of these chests, but players are guaranteed one by completing a specific Lost Sector, Cyst, or Overthrow activity after every daily reset. To activate a Flickering Blessing, players simply need to navigate to the Traveler's Blessings menu and select which blessing they want.

Active Traveler's Blessings can be changed at any time without penalty.

Unlike Flickering Blessings, Pale Blessings are a bit more elusive. To obtain one, players will first need to complete every level of a Pale Heart zone's Overthrow activity. Upon completion, they will be rewarded with a Luminescent Seed, which they can then plant into one of the numerous hand sculptures scattered throughout the Pale Heart. After planting a seed, a Traveler's Flower will grow out of the hand and unlock one of the Pale Blessings for the player. After that, players can select which of the Pale Blessings they want active from the Traveler's Blessings screen in Destiny 2's Director, but they will need to interact with a Traveler's Flower to activate its buff.
