With the re-emergence of Titan and Deputy Commander Sloane, Destiny 2 brings about Season of the Deep, promising new and exciting-looking Deep weapons, including Targeted Redaction. This new set of weapons in Destiny 2 acts as part of the seasonal content, brought to the forefront with Season 21.

Perhaps the most obvious visual flair of these new Deep weapons comes from the fact that they have the appearance of the Taken. Targeted Redaction is a well-sought-after Hand Cannon from Season 21, but the question is, will it be worth it for PvE or PvP?

How To Get Targeted Redaction

Players can’t get Targeted Redaction through just any means. This weapon won’t drop from a random Thrall, and definitely can’t be found lurking in the old loot cave. If players want to get Targeted Redaction, they are going to need to engage in Season of the Deep activities and other PvE content to gather Deep Engrams in the hope that RNG is in their favor.

Targeted Redaction is in the loot pool for Deep Engrams, but this loot pool is rather large, seeing not only 6 Deep Weapons but additionally 6 Reckoning Weapons and 5 pieces of armor. Players will need to head over to the H.E.L.M. And run down to the Sonar Station, where they will use the unique Season 21 vendor to decode their Deep Engrams for the chance of a Targeted Redaction roll.

If players complete the seasonal challenge to unlock all Deep Weapons, then they will be able to use Deep Weapon Focusing, allowing them to not rely so heavily on RNG to get a Targeted Redaction. With Deep Weapon Focusing, players can spend 3,000 Glimmer and 4 Deep Engrams to pick up a Targeted Redaction, although the God Roll is not guaranteed. The weapon can drop with Deepsight Resonance, allowing for pattern unlocks to be used at the Enclave on Mars to build a unique God Roll.

Is It Any Good?

Targeted Redaction may have the fancy flair of a Taken weapon, but all Destiny 2 players know that Hand Cannons have been suffering as of late thanks to their archetype compared to more viable options in terms of damage, rounds per minute, and stability. The stand-out Intrinsic Trait of Targeted Redaction may turn players away because Aggressive Frame boasts of high recoil, but it's still a weapon that can fight the mighty Cabal empire.

What Targeted Redaction lacks in its 120 RPM and high recoil, certainly makes up for its fair choice of perks. Targeted Redaction can drop with one of the best Void perks in Destiny 2: Destabilizing Rounds, which makes ad-clearing far easier because Destabilizing Rounds can make nearby targets Volatile through Final Blows.

Another advantage of Targeted Redaction is the importance of Hand Cannons against Unstoppable Champions for Season 21’s meta. One of the NPA Repulsion Regulator’s best Artifact Perks comes from Unstoppable Hand Cannon, and Targeted Redaction can certainly help with that.

The PvP God Roll

PvP content is going to be a different ball game from PvE content. In PvP, players are paired against each other to tackle the strongest Guardians in The Crucible. For the best Targeted Redaction PvP God Roll, players are going to want to aim for a weapon with great stats, unlike the best Raid Exotics in Destiny 2, which have guaranteed rolls.

Barrel: Hammer-Forged Rifling

With a Hammer-Forged Rifling Barrel, players can expect an increase in range. The Frame of Targeted Redaction may already provide a great range, but additional stats in that department always help, especially in PvP, where players will prioritize distance. After all, a Guardian is not charging Thrall.

Magazine: Flared Magwell

The Flared Magwell Magazine will increase stability and greatly increase reload speed. This is almost essential in PvP, as players will need to make every shot count, as well as ensure that they have a full magazine for each fight. Rounds are short for a Hand Cannon, and Flared Magwell will make sure bullets are always loaded.

Perk 1: Outlaw

For the Perk 1 slot, players should aim for Outlaw. For every precision kill that players get, their reload time will reduce, meaning that if players are to hit their shots and aim for the head, they will be granted faster reloads, ensuring their bullets are always ready to fire into the next Guardian.

Perk 2: Explosive Payload

Explosive Payload is a Perk 2 slot that ensures projectiles will create an area-of-effect detonation on impact. This works against Guardians, providing them with an extra bang with each shot, a decent perk for combat situations.

The PvE God Roll

The God Roll PvE version of Targeted Reduction will boast the ad-clearing ability of any player that wields it. With these rolls, this PvE Hand Cannon will be able to clear out Taken Thralls and enemies of humanity thanks to the fact that it uses the Void element.

Barrel: Hammer-Forged Rifling

The increase to the range on Targeted Redaction with this Barrel perk will benefit PvE players, as the extended range might allow players to treat their Hand Cannons like a Scout Rifle that packs more of a punch.

Magazine; Flared Magwell

Flared Magwell is the Magazine perk to help increase stability and improve reload speed. It’s perfect for a Targeted Redaction PvE God Roll, as players will be shooting repeated rounds into countless ads. The improvement to reload speed ensures players will always have a bullet in the magazine to fire.

Perk 1: Outlaw

The first Perk slot should be filled by Outlaw. The ability to increase players’ reload speeds per precision kill means players can build upon stacks of fast reloads due to the number of ads that they can kill through precision shots.

Perk 2: Destabilizing Rounds

The star of the show for the PvE God Roll is Destabilizing Rounds. This 2nd Perk is exclusive to Void weapons, and Targeted Redaction will benefit greatly from this perk. With Destabilizing Rounds, players can make enemies volatile when they cause final blows with this Void Hand Cannon. Players certainly can't make Exotic fish in Destiny 2 Volatile, even if the stresses of the RNG is getting to them.

Destiny 2 is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
