While The Edge of Fate brings about many exciting changes and new additions to Destiny 2, there are also some pieces of content that are no longer in the game. It's common for Bungie to remove old content, especially seasonal content that has no place in the future of Destiny 2's plans, but it's always a good idea for returning players to check in with what's been removed for the latest expansion so that they can see what exactly has been hit by Bungie's sunsetting.
Destiny 2: How to Get Edge of Fate Exotic Armor (& What They Do)
Titans, Warlocks, and Hunters all receive a fresh new piece of Exotic Armor in Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate, but how can you unlock them?
7 Episode Weapons and Armors
Say Goodbye to Some Epic Guns and High Stat Armor
The previous three Episodes from Echoes, Revenant, and Heresy have been removed. Worry not, these weapons aren't going anywhere, so players will still have them at the Enclave and in their Vault, but they will not be able to grind for them. These weapons are no longer available in the standardized loot pool, so if players want to get the weapons from Echoes, Revenant, and Heresy, then they will need to wait for Xur to appear from Friday to Monday in the Tower, and hope that he sells some of these weapons and their God Rolls. With the removal of the Episodes, Episodic Engrams (Echoes) are gone, so players aren't going to be able to farm Episodic armor and their stats.
6 Armor 2.0
New Stats, New Problems (For Enemies)
Speaking of stats, something that's been removed from Destiny 2 is the standard stats that players were familiar with. Anyone who has played Destiny 2 before The Edge of Fate knows that every piece of armor has a set of stats, and players can build into these stats to get stacks of 100 points that will see bonuses to ability times and damage resistance. However, Armor 2.0 has been sunset, paving the way for the more complex Armor 3.0. Armor 3.0 has archetypes, meaning stats are split between two categories on each piece for different stat rolls that will help with shield recharge rate, Super recharge rates, reload speeds, and more.
5 Rite of the Nine
Revamped and New Dungeon Challenges Are Gone
Rite of the Nine was an event to tease The Edge of Fate, and it provided players with an opportunity to play 3 dungeons entirely for free, with Spire of the Watcher, Ghosts of the Deep, and Prophecy. Since Rite of the Nine was only an event, it was never supposed to be permanent, so its removal is not exactly surprising, but still worth noting for those who are jumping back in only to see their new favorite dungeon locked behind a Dungeon Key. With the removal of the Rite of the Nine also comes the removal of the shiny weapons that could have dropped during the event, thus making these weapons a rarity to those who have them.
Destiny 2: All Exotic Changes in Edge of Fate
Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate has arrived, along with some unique changes to fan-favorite Exotic weapons and armor.
4 Ritual Engrams
There is No More Reputation to Gain for Vanguard, Gambit, and Crucible
The Edge of Fate puts a large focus on the Portal, providing players with a central HUB where they can track pinnacle gear and earn rewards from dedicated activities within Vanguard and the Crucible (Gambit has been seemingly abandoned in this Power rotation.) This means that completing Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit activities just on their own is pointless, as there is no more reputation to gain for Ritual Engrams. Instead, players can visit the vendors in the Tower for Vanguard, Crucible, and Gambit, and exchange Glimmer and Enhancement Cores for old weapons, instead of relying on random RNG drops and engrams.
3 Upgrade Modules (& Other Materials)
Enhancement Cores Get the Job Done
Upgrade Modules are no longer relevant to the future of Destiny 2, which is surprising since they've been associated with Destiny 2 for years. While players will still have Upgrade Modules in their resources, they will no longer be required to upgrade weapons and armor. Instead, players can use Enhancement Cores to easily upgrade their gear, so if there is a piece of armor or a weapon that players want to give a higher Power level, then they will no longer need to balance Upgrade Modules, and they can use their endless assortment of Enhancement Cores. On top of Upgrade Modules being removed, other materials are no longer usable, like ones from certain destinations that were exchanged to Rahool for Glimmer.
2 Seasonal Activities
Annual Activities Featured in Episodes Have Been Removed
Since Episodes are the largest thing to be removed in The Edge of Fate, it would only be right to mention the seasonal activities that players can no longer access. Episodes brought about many activities, but all of them have been sunset in place of what awaits the future of Destiny 2. Players can no longer access the roguelite activities of The Nether, the Court of Blades, and the Tomb of Elders, nor will players be able to play Enigma Protocol and Breach Executables.
1 Seasonal Story Content
Episode Adventures Are Sunset
As expected, the three Episodes that were available have been removed. This means that players can no longer play the seasonal stories associated with Echoes, Revenant, and Heresy. While this is a standard procedure among live-service games to remove older stories in place of new ones, players will be missing out on some of Destiny 2's best narratives. Echoes provided players with an origin for one of The Edge of Fate's villains, the Conductor, whereas Revenant tied up the story of Uldren Sov's follower, Fikrul. Lastly, there was Heresy, which shed light on the loving relationship between the Drifter and Eris Morn, while also putting down Oryx for good, and providing Guardians with a new sworn enemy, Savathun.
