Destiny 2 fans are disappointed with the lack of obtainable trace rifles in the current loot pool as another weekly reset goes live for Season of the Deep. Exotic trace rifles, including Wavesplitter and Prometheus Lens, are readily available within Destiny 2, but its legendary counterparts are out of reach for many active players.
Before the launch of the Destiny 2's Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack, trace rifles were exclusive to the Exotic weapon category. The Bungie 30th Anniversary Pack introduced the first-ever legendary trace rifle, Retraced Path, and seasons following the launch of Destiny 2: The Witch Queen would introduce more legendary trace rifles. Retraced Path and Acasia's Dejection legendary trace rifles are still obtainable in the game by completing Dares of Eternity and Raid of Nightmares. Unfortunately, other legendary trace rifles that were once popular are no longer obtainable through activities in Destiny 2.
Destiny 2 fan Soulstone_X and fellow players are unhappy with the current in-game selection of legendary trace rifles since only two of these weapons may be obtained by completing activities. Players are also frustrated with the remaining legendary trace rifles, Retraced Path and Acasia's Dejection, since these weapons fire Solar elemental energy beams. Currently, Hollow Denial and Path of Least Resistance trace rifles cannot be obtained from Season of the Deep activities, leaving newer players without a legendary trace rifle attuned to Arc or Void energy. The lack of options for legendary trace rifles means that players must instead use an Exotic trace rifle, which may hinder potential loadouts.
Hollow Denial and Path of Least Resistance were first introduced in Season of the Haunted and Season of the Seraph respectively. These legendary trace rifles are craftable after successfully obtaining and extracting a sufficient amount of Deepsight Resonance drops in seasonal activities. Season of the Haunted and Season of the Seraph activities were removed with the launch of the Lightfall expansion, however. The removal of these activities and weapons continue to frustrate newer Destiny 2 players due to negative experiences involving FOMO, or fear of missing out.
The introduction of new legendary trace rifles in future seasons and the Final Shape expansion may alleviate some of the frustration in the Destiny 2 community. Further, previous seasonal weapons being added to the world loot pool could be beneficial for newer players since they will be able to experience weapons from activities that are no longer active.
The upcoming Destiny 2 August showcase might reveal what's in store for players in Season 22, which is expected to launch once the showcase is over. Season 22 has the potential to address some of the criticism from the community regarding Season of the Deep and the lack of obtainable weapons from Destiny 2's past seasons.
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
