Bungie reveals a new preview event coming on September 9, showcasing the Star Wars-inspired Renegades expansion, while Ash & Iron also officially launches for Destiny 2. Although Destiny 2 has entered a slower period of time after the launch of its Edge of Fate expansion and the annual Solstice event, new content is rapidly approaching.
Prior to The Edge of Fate launch, Bungie shared a Destiny 2 roadmap for the Year of Prophecy, giving fans a detailed look at a schedule of content and what to expect. While the number of major content releases was cut down slightly from previous expansions, the Ash & Iron update marks the halfway point of The Edge of Fate, bringing with it new content as well as big sandbox changes. As it turns out, September 9 is going to be a big day for Destiny 2 fans not just because of the update.

Destiny 2 Renegades and Ash & Iron Update Reveal Stream Date and Time

As Bungie has been known to do, a new Developer Livestream is being planned for September 9, prior to the Destiny 2 Weekly Reset. The reason is that this livestream will be showcasing the first major update for Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate called Ash & Iron. Unlike previous updates, Ash & Iron continues the "Fate Saga" established in the recent expansion, bringing back The Plaguelands destination, last seen in Destiny: Rise of Iron. Ash & Iron will also be adding new content like the Reclaim activity, as well as a major balancing update to the Sandbox.
However, that isn't all. The Destiny 2 development team is also going to give players a preview of the next expansion called Renegades. As players have previously seen, Renegades looks to be inspired by Star Wars, as there are many references and callbacks to that IP, including a pistol that looks similar to Han Solo's DL-44 blaster as well as the obvious Lightsaber style sword held by the Warlock. Either way, fans will finally get more details on what to expect when the Renegades expansion arrives in December.
Many fans are likely hoping for clarity on the future of Destiny 2's gameplay, especially within the Portal. Some controversy has arisen within the community as of late after Bungie announced changes to certain Destiny 2 activities, including a reduction in powerful rewards for Solo Ops players. The backlash to many of these changes prompted Bungie to backtrack on them, though many are hoping to see how Bungie plans to fix the current power grind and rewards system.
