Thanks to the reworked Peregrine Greaves Titan Exotic, Destiny 2 players can quickly deal massive damage and easily defeat Nezarec, the Root of Nightmares raid boss. Peregrine Greaves is one of 20 Destiny 2 Exotic armor pieces that received a major overhaul with the launch of Season of the Wish, which is the final season before the release of The Final Shape.

Destiny 2 Season of the Wish launched on November 28, bringing players back to Forsaken's Dreaming City destination as the Vanguard pursues Riven and the Ahamkara's fifteenth wish. The wish will grant Guardians passage into the Pale Heart within the Traveler, which is the setting of The Final Shape. Riven will grant this wish if they secure the Ahamkara's remaining eggs in Riven's Lair, an enemy-filled labyrinth deep in the Dreaming City. Season of the Wish also introduced the new Wish-Keeper Exotic bow, collaborative Witcher armor sets in Eververse, and multiple gameplay balance changes and adjustments. What's more, Bungie reworked 20 underpowered Exotics to make them more viable in the current Destiny 2 meta and offer more buildcrafting possibilities for players.

Destiny 2 Twitch streamer and YouTuber SneakyBeaver recently shared a gameplay clip of their Titan dealing over 850,000 in damage with the reworked Peregrine Greaves Exotic on the final Root of Nightmares raid boss. The Titan Exotic's overhauled perks now grant additional damage against Champions, Tormentors, and mini bosses while refunding melee energy. When combined with the Offensive Bulwark Void Aspect and the Ward of Dawn Super's Weapons of Light effect, the Void Shield Bash melee will deal tremendous damage. Since Shield Bash instantly recharges upon a successful hit with Peregrine Greaves, SneakyBeaver and his raid team can unleash multiple Shield Bash hits on Nezarec, defeating him in roughly 30 seconds.

By the end of the encounter, SneakyBeaver dealt nearly 3 million in damage in Shield Bash attacks against Nezarec alone. Coincidentally, SneakyBeaver's quick defeat of the Root of Nightmares raid boss resulted in a Conditional Finality Exotic shotgun drop, which has a very low drop rate of roughly 5%.

Destiny 2 players who have not completed the Root of Nightmares raid now have another easy method for defeating the raid's final boss. This new trick may be helpful to those wanting to complete Destiny 2's other raids and dungeons before The Final Shape launches. However, some players believe that the Tormentor damage bonus for Peregrine Greaves may be nerfed in due time, since the potential damage output removes any semblance of challenge in the raid's most important boss fight.
