Why Osiris Has Become a Meme in Destiny 2’s Community
Osiris was previously a Solar Sunsinger Warlock, which explains and justifies this character’s choice of Exotic armor, the Sunbracer gauntlets. The Sunbracers are currently one of the best Exotics for Warlocks, due to the benefits they provide to the Solar Subclass abilities. Naturally, this Exotic armor was a great fit for Osiris because it's incredibly powerful and related to the Solar Subclass.
As of Destiny 2’s Lightfall Expansion though, Osiris now wields the Darkness, specifically, the Strand Subclass. Osiris no longer being able to wield the Light means that he can’t use the power of the Sunsinger Solar Subclass. Consequently, this renders the Exotic Sunbracers useless to him. Regardless though, Osiris still wears this recognizable Exotic armor despite its effects granting them no benefits, which has begun to inspire Destiny 2 players to create builds that poke fun at Osiris’ nonsensical choice of Exotic armor.
The main thing that makes this build stand out is that there are ‘neutral’ Exotics available for Warlocks in Destiny 2 that players can fully utilize regardless of the Light or Darkness Subclass they have equipped. However, the Sunbracers are not a neutral Exotic because they only provide benefits to players using the Solar Subclass, which makes Osiris' continued use of these Exotics with a Strand Subclass confusing, to say the least.
What This Meme Says About Destiny 2
This Osiris build meme has already started to create discussions in the game’s community. However, it’s uncertain whether Bungie will acknowledge the memes inspired by Osiris’ strange build and change the character's model to reflect his updated lore.
One way this meme can be interpreted is as a way to joke about the various changes to Destiny 2’s meta that one may struggle to adapt to with new patches and releases. On the other hand, Osiris’ dedication to wearing the Sunbracers can be seen as a symbol of the character's relatable loyalty to his favorite Exotic, despite it no longer being useful to his current build and powers.
Additionally, players who are putting their Warlock builds in Destiny 2 in jeopardy to recreate this meme are caught between a rock and a hard place because while it's fun to hang around social spaces cosplaying as Osiris, it can be detrimental to a given activity. Exotics are a big part of any build, so using one that does nothing for a character is not the best way to go.

Ultimately, this build is quite simple since it only requires players to have a specific Subclass and a specific Exotic armor equipped. Otherwise, the weapons and Strand Aspects and Fragments for this build are open to interpretation since Osiris’ exact loadout is mostly unknown. Even the Warlock armor ornaments that players can use to recreate a faithful Osiris cosplay have some wiggle room. Because this build is counterintuitive though, it’s probably not the best idea to bring it into high-difficulty or competitive activities.
