Today Bungie confirmed that the devs are listening to Destiny 2 fans’ complaints and concerns, by outlining plans to improve the game in numerous ways. Specifically, Bungie wants to make activities in Destiny 2 more rewarding, and to honor the effort of players that complete the most difficult experiences.

While Bungie did not explain how it plans to boost rewards in Destiny 2, there were a few activities that it singled out as needing a buff. Prestige activities are one set of endgame experience that most Destiny 2 players would agree are lacking in the rewards department, from the Leviathan Raid to the Nightfall Strike.

Yes, each offers the opportunity for endgame loot, but the effort required to complete these difficult encounters is not equal to the reward. Outside of the Calus boss fight, it’s possible to go through the entirety of Leviathan on Prestige and only get Calus Tokens.

Bungie also wants to deliver better rewards for strikes, adventures, and Lost Sectors. All three were worthwhile endeavors early in the Destiny 2 grind, but they lost their luster when compared to Public Events. Taking 20 minutes or more to complete a strike and not getting any guaranteed loot – at least one legendary – is hard to justify when a Heroic Public Event takes about 5 minutes and can drop exotics and legendaries.

On top of buffing rewards for strikes, adventures, and Lost Sectors, Bungie says that it wants to increase the replay value of these activities. Adventures were a unique twist on quests in Destiny 2, but once completed they were cleared from the map. Lost Sectors, on the other hand, repopulate with loot, but there is nothing unique about their offering.

While these improvements to rewards were unexpected, Bungie also reaffirmed its plans to buff Iron Banner and Faction Rally incentives. Specifically, the Destiny 2 developer wants to ensure that players encounter fewer duplicates when redeeming Tokens, which is a significant change considering Faction Rally rewards are capped. After 30 reputation engrams, a Faction will no longer dole out any more loot, but for some that wasn’t enough to collect everything.

Overall, Bungie seems to be intent on addressing Destiny 2 players concerns with the loot system and the incentives to complete specific activities. Granted, a lot of players have already hit the power level cap and so loot is not as important, but moving forward to Season 2 and the first DLC expansion things should be better.

Destiny 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
