Bungie releases the latest update for Destiny 2, addressing a lengthy list of bugs and other issues impacting the game, while also making a handful of adjustments to player abilities and weapon perks like All-Star. While the future of Destiny 2 continues to remain a mystery for players, especially with the Shadow and Order update reportedly being delayed to make way for Marathon, Bungie is keeping the game active with limited-time events for players to take part in.
Arms Week has returned to Destiny 2 for the third time, focusing on Combat Bows in particular. Players will be able to get their hands on previously released bows and two new ones alongside unique mods for a limited time. However, Destiny 2 has also kicked off the Dark Age Hunt community challenge, tasking players to solo the Warlord's Ruin dungeon using only Bows, Glaives, and Swords. Completing the challenge will unlock the unique Fallen Torches emblem. The Arms Week arrival was also met by a brand-new update as well.
Destiny 2’s Next Big Update Has Reportedly Been Delayed
New reports indicate that Destiny 2's next major update called Shadow and Order is getting delayed and here's the main reason why.
With Update 9.5.5 for Destiny 2, Bungie laid out a lengthy list of changes in its patch notes, fixing a ton of bugs and other issues within the game currently. The Star Wars-inspired Renegades expansion for Destiny 2 was also the target for a variety of fixes, from the odd glitches within the FIre and Ice exotic mission, to some unexpected behaviors present within the Lawless Frontier activity. Players can also now correctly track the Opportunist Triumph, and Invasions should now correctly count as job completions when completing Exotic job contracts.
This update also improves the loot from Destiny 2's controversial Edge of Fate expansion, with gear items earned can now drop above 300 power. Many players commenting on Bungie's patch notes called this out specifically, with some indicating that it's time to head back and grind away, while others continue to lament that other areas of the game could use a similar update as they're currently lacking and falling behind in terms of the loot on offer. If players aren't going to be adequately rewarded for spending their time in a certain activity, the motivation to take part won't be there.
This patch also had an impact on numerous Guardian abilities, as the Titan's Ballistic Slam super granted the player a free Bolt Charge without hitting any enemies. Now, players will have to actually make an impact with enemies in order to trigger this properly. This was a similar issue for Lightning Surge on Warlocks, which has also been fixed. In addition, Lightning Surge grants Amplified when it is cast. Finally, for Warlocks, the Healing/Empowering Rift cast animation can no longer be canceled by emoting or swapping weapons.
As for Hunters, the Nightstalker's Mobius Quiver super will no longer grant a buff if the super is interrupted before it can be cast. Combination Blow was also bugged in PvP, which is fixed now, and the Gunslinger's Gunpowder Gamble will now scale correctly with perks and stats, while also properly counting as grenade damage. Based on how players are specced, this could be a big damage dealer.
The patch also makes a few adjustments to weapon perks, like All-Star, which had an issue where the damage multiplier was being overridden by its PvP multiplier. In PvE, All-Star should now properly give players a 35% multiplicative bonus to weapon damage, while staying at 15% in the Crucible. Adrenaline Junkie will now correctly be activated by Grapple melee and Hellion kills. The Opening Salvo mod also now works with Swords, and Renegade's new blaster weapons have had a bug fixed where high-heat sound effects wouldn't always play as expected.
While the patch seems to make a lot of important fixes, a frustrating bug has been identified by Bungie, which is majorly impacting the current Arms Week event. Vendor Ada-1 isn't accepting Combat Telemetry, the current event's currency. Some players have seemingly identified the issue, however, as the telemetry appears to be flagged as the wrong version, appearing as currency from the previous events, so Ada-1 isn't technically able to "see" it and thus won't accept it. Considering Arms Week events in Destiny 2 only last for 1 week, hopefully Bungie will be able to fix this sooner rather than later.
