There's always a new ship that comes at the end of a Destiny 2 season, and Season of the Defiance is no exception. Given the context of the events that recently unfolded in-game, this new ship may hold a bit of sentimental value to players who have been around Bungie's MMOFPS for a long time.

On the surface, the Brazen Spark is just like any other ship. However, unlike the others that were handed out as mere trophies, this one has a lot more meaning attached to it. This ship is directly tied to Amanda Holliday, the Tower's resident shipwright and long-time Destiny 2 cast member who met an unexpected end during Season of Defiance's main quest line. Getting the Brazen Spark isn't terribly difficult, but it does warrant the need for a few points of clarity to clear out some confusion behind it.

The Brazen Spark is the end-of-season ship reward for Season of Defiance. This means players need to finish all the weekly We Stand United quests from the Farm and HELM. It doesn't stop here, however, as there are two extra steps involved that don't show up in the players' quest screens.

After finishing the story mission for Week 5, head to the HELM and speak with Crow. He will give the Retribution quest, which will have players assault the Shadow Legion prison ship on high orbit in order to destroy it from the inside. This mission is short and relatively painless—any build is enough to get through it, but players might want to use the best ones in Destiny 2 just in case. Storm through the combat areas and return to the Farm once the engine is thoroughly wrecked.

Finishing Retribution will put an end to Destiny 2's Season of Defiance story, but the Brazen Spark won't just magically appear in the player's inventory. To get it, head to the Tower and speak with Commander Zavala. He will give players Amanda's last message for them along with the Last Will and Testament quest, which simply involves going to the Hangar and obtaining the Brazen Spark from there. Those who have claimed the ship earlier in the season by resetting their War Table reputation won't be able to complete this quest until Bungie issues a fix.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
