Activity medals are commonly overlooked in Destiny 2, but when annual events like the Guardian Games start rolling, these become much more important. Every extra point players earn in Strikes and Nightfalls helps when it comes to personal progression and the broader inter-class competition. Anyone who's looking for better rewards should be trying to get as many of these medals as they can.
Destiny 2: How To Get The Hoverboard Skimmer
Destiny 2 introduces a new vehicle class with the Skimmer, allowing players to live out their hoverboard fantasies like a Cloud Strider.
One such medal is Demolitions Expert, and it's exclusive to Destiny 2's Vanguard operations. It's not terribly complicated to get, but a lot of players are bound to forget all about it if they're busy speeding through a Strike. If you're wondering how to get this medal for quests, bounties, or other purposes, here's a quick refresher.
How to Get Demolitions Expert Medals in Destiny 2
To get this Vanguard medal, all you need to do is defeat three enemies with one grenade while in a Strike or Nightfall. The difficulty of getting these medals all depends on how high the mob density is in the mission you're running, and how quickly your build regenerates grenades.
There are a plethora of ways to regenerate grenades faster. Most of Destiny 2's Arc builds are great for this — use Storm or Pulse Grenades, then fit your subclass with effects that generate Ionic Traces, which will give you a bit of energy for all of your abilities. However, keep in mind that kills scored by Jolt will not count towards Demolition Expert. Other subclasses can also get a similar energy regeneration rate if you use the right Aspects and Fragments, and even more so if you use the right gear.
Mods and Exotics for Grenade Builds
There are many Exotic armor pieces in Destiny 2 that are all about boosting grenades, making it much easier to get the Demolitions Expert medal. Some notable ones include:
- Heart of Inmost Light (Titan): Casting abilities improve regeneration for other abilities.
- Starfire Protocol (Warlock): Fusion Grenades regenerate energy when you deal damage or defeat enemies with empowered weapon damage from Empowering Wells or Well of Radiance.
- Lucky Raspberry (Hunter): Arcbolt Grenades gain increased chaining capabilities. Hitting enemies with Jolt and collecting Ionic Traces regenerate Arcbolt Grenade energy.
To make grenade builds even better, use the right combination of mods so your energy regenerates even faster. Such mods include:
- Innervation: Reduce grenade cooldown when you pick up Orbs of Power.
- Bomber: Reduce grenade cooldown when you use your class ability.
- Explosive Finisher: Finisher kills restore grenade energy.
- Grenade Kickstart: Fully expending your grenade energy refunds a portion of the energy cost.
