Episode Heresy for Destiny 2 launches on February 4 and Bungie is setting player expectations by confirming that some voice lines will be missing due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. While the news may be disappointing for some, most Destiny 2 players are ready for a new episode and the content coming with it.

Episode Revenant has had plenty of ups and downs over these past few months, largely highlighted by some of Destiny 2's biggest bugs players have experienced in a while. In fact, the player base was able to bring a couple of major issues to light, including a perk weighting issue that actively prevented some combinations from dropping entirely. While Bungie went on to fix the issue and release god-roll level weapons as an apology, Destiny 2 players are hopeful that Episode Heresy will be a little more stable. However, Episode Heresy won't be a perfect experience as Bungie confirmed some unfortunate news.

The ongoing SAG-AFTRA actor strike has quickly engulfed the video game industry, already impacting some games in development. Hideo Kojima has previously admitted that some of his projects, like PhysInt and OD, are impacted, while Rockstar has attempted to ease concerns over GTA 6 by confirming it is exempt from the strike. With Episode Heresy launching on February 4 for Destiny 2, Bungie has announced that the strike is going to affect some of the content fans will be experiencing.

Destiny 2 Episode Heresy Impacted by SAG-AFTRA Strike

Inside the weekly blog, Bungie revealed that certain voice lines will be silent as a result of the actors not being available due to the current SAG-AFTRA strike. Bungie declined to provide any details about which characters are impacted, or just how much this issue will be happening in-game, but added some workarounds that players can do. While subtitles will be enabled by default during these silent sections, players can utilize some of the game's other accessibility options like text size, color, and more to make the text easier to read.

Without a resolution in sight, it appears more games are going to be seeing similar issues going forward. Genshin Impact's version 5.3 release saw numerous characters lacking an English voice over, with reports that Honkai: Star Rail could potentially follow. With issues like pay increases and protection over AI being major components of this strike, many are hoping the two sides can come to some sort of agreement.
