In addition to seasonal and expansion content, Destiny 2 utilizes its live-service format by launching holiday inspired events that players can take part in. On top of the unique rewards and gameplay, Bungie dresses up the game's premium microtransaction store with cosmetic items that players can purchase like emotes, weapon skins, and new armor.
Inside of October, Destiny 2 brings out the Festival of the Lost, an event that takes heavy inspiration from Halloween. The Tower social space is outfit with jack-o-lanterns, spider webs, as well as screams and spooky background noises. Players can wear masks an earn candy from more activities, turning them in for additional rewards and weapons. Naturally, the Eververse store has a new selection of Festival of the Lost cosmetics, bringing back some favorites from years past, though fans have keyed in on the premium masks on sale and whether or not they're worth the asking price.

Bungie clarifies the upcoming changes coming to certain exotics in Destiny 2 Season 23 after an accidental leak revealed some details too early.
In a post on the Destiny 2 subReddit, a user named Le_epic_Deeg made an argument against the premium masks that can be purchased for Silver at the Eververse store. The biggest frustration with them is that players can only purchase them with premium currency and that once Festival of the Lost concludes in a couple of weeks, the mask's power levels drop to zero. Considering that activities in Destiny 2 have power recommendation or requirements, having a piece of armor at 0 is a major hinderance, making them nearly unusable. With the current asking prices for the masks, Le_epic_Deeg doesn't understand why people continue to purchase them.
What's interesting is that not everyone agreed with the point of the post. While many said it was easy enough to ignore and that players should vote with their wallet, some argued for the special items. Voelker58 likened the Eververse merchandise to that of a Halloween store which essentially sells costumes and other items which are intended to only be used for one particular night. People purchase costumes, masks, and other Halloween items to have fun, not to ultimately collect it. Regardless, most agreed that the masks should be added to the transmog options and that the cost to own them should be reduced considering they're only being sold for Destiny 2 premium currency called Silver and not Bright Dust.
For fans, the microtransaction store isn't the only thing annoying Destiny 2 players during Festival of the Lost. Others have taken to calling out the NPC Immaru, Savathun's Ghost, who has taken over the narration portions of the Haunted Lost Sectors for this year's event. It seems the biggest criticism this year is that Immaru is extremely talkative, with dialogue that plays much more frequently than in years past, pushing many players to lower or turn off their volume completely.
