Summary

  • Certain weapon types will receive a buff in Destiny 2, making it important for players to collect these guns before the next season.
  • Some Exotic weapons will become temporarily unavailable, so players should prioritize collecting specific Exotics before the season ends.
  • Ex Diris, Izanagi's Burden, Vex Mythoclast, Wicked Implement, and Winterbite are powerful weapons that players should obtain to have an advantage in Destiny 2.

Certain weapon types will be getting a buff between now and the next season in Destiny 2, so players should consider grabbing these guns ahead of time. This will give players the upper hand after Destiny 2’s next Seasonal Artifact resets the temporary Power Levels that players have achieved.

Some Exotic weapons will also become temporarily unavailable to obtain in the near future, which is another reason why players should prioritize collecting a few specific Exotics in Destiny 2. Collecting exotic weapons is always a worthwhile task in Destiny 2, but players would be wise to prioritize certain Exotics before Season of the Witch ends.

Powerful Exotic Weapons to Use in Destiny 2’s Season 23

destiny 2 season of the witch exotic update

Ex Diris

Most players who have been active lately in Destiny 2 probably have this weapon already, but anyone who has taken a break should consider hopping in to grab this weapon before Season of the Witch ends. Ex Diris is the infamous weapon used by Destiny 2’s Hive “boomer” Knight enemies, and it packs a punch. It can be hard to land shots at longer ranges but with a bottomless magazine and incredible damage on direct hits, this weapon is capable of impressively high DPS.

  • Ex Diris can be obtained through the Season of the Witch Season Pass

Izanagi's Burden

In Season 23, Snipers will be getting a nerf that will decrease their body-shot damage, but they will also be getting a buff to critical hit damage. While this might make snipers more difficult to use in PvP, the increased critical hit damage should help to solidify sniper rifles in Destiny 2’s current meta. Izanagi's Burden is already one of the best snipers and overall Exotic weapons for DPS in Destiny 2's Raids, so the upcoming sniper rifle buff to critical hit damage is expected to be overkill for this weapon. Also, with the Exotic perk on Izanagi’s Burden allowing players to consume additional ammo to boost the next shot’s damage, this Exotic should still be a viable weapon in Destiny 2’s PvP activities even after the incoming nerf to body-shot damage.

  • Izanagi’s Burden can be obtained by purchasing it from the Monument of Lost Light

Vex Mythoclast

This Exotic weapon will be getting a damage boost against Champions in the near future. Even though the upcoming buff against Destiny 2’s Champion enemies will have limited use, the Vex Mythoclast is already a great weapon regardless. This weapon is capable of firing rapid fusion rifle shots at a decent range, and it also features an alternate linear fusion rifle firing mode. Because it has two firing modes, the Vex Mythoclast is incredibly effective for clearing ads in any PvE content, but the alternate firing mode is especially powerful against opposing players in PvP.

  • Vex Mythoclast can be obtained by completing the Vault of Glass Raid

Wicked Implement

Players will still have a chance to play Destiny 2's fishing activity in Season 23, but this activity will possibly become unavailable when The Final Shape expansion releases. With this in mind, It's best to get this Exotic weapon now that the current Season is slowing down with the story having ended, instead of trying to get the weapon next season when the community will shift into preparing for the Final Shape Expansion.

  • Wicked Implement can be obtained by completing the Whetstone Quest

Winterbite

Glaives will also be getting a damage buff in the near future. Even without the upcoming buff though, glaives are relatively powerful weapons since they can still be used when players run out of special ammo. This combined with the ability to block incoming damage and shoot ranged projectiles makes glaives a hard weapon to counter in close-range fights in Destiny 2’s PvP activities. Any glaive is potentially a good choice, but Winterbite is among the most used glaives in Destiny 2’s PvP, and for good reason.

  • Winterbite can be obtained by completing the Strider Quest

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
