A Destiny 2 player has discovered a neat trick to farm platinum medals in this year's Guardian Games event. This method allows players to keep farming platinum medals that can be used to earn progress in Destiny 2’s annual event to complete challenges and earn rewards.
Guardian Games was introduced in Destiny 2 during the Season of the Worthy in 2020, and it has become a yearly event ever since. The Olympic-like event pits the three Guardian classes: Warlocks, Titans, and Hunters against each other, where the class that finishes first on the most days during the event is crowned the victor for the year. Players earn bronze, silver, gold, or platinum medals by completing special Guardian Games activities, and depositing them at the tower to earn progress for their respective character classes. Earning platinum medals takes the most effort as players need to play higher-tier activities to earn them; although, a fellow Guardian has shared a neat trick that lets gamers farm platinum medals rather easily.
Reddit user coupl4nd suggests that players should get the Neptune bounty for farming platinum medals easily by replaying one particular section of the Breakneck Lightfall campaign mission in Destiny 2 on Legendary difficulty. For this, players need to reach the first section of the mission where a free rally flag can be put down and kill as many enemies as possible in the area, ideally with Strand or Void damage, to earn additional progress. However, before progressing to the next area, players should die and do it all over again to keep farming platinum medals.
The reason players find this effective is because of how fast the encounter can be cleared, with the added benefit of not running out of rally banners. Even though this seems straightforward, many players were unaware of how to access the Breakneck mission in particular from Destiny 2’s Lightfall DLC campaign. Thankfully, other Guardians came to their aid and pointed out that specific missions can be accessed directly from the Legendary campaign icon on Neomuna, and players don’t have to run the entire campaign all over again to reach that particular mission.
Despite the fact that this will still be a difficult task considering it is part of the Legendary campaign, many feel that Bungie will find a way to stop this farming method. A recent exploit in Destiny 2 allowed players to farm infinite Legendary Shards, which was fixed within hours of finding out. While this doesn’t look like an exploit of that level, players think Bungie will do something about it in one way or another.
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
