  • A bug allowed players to use overpowered weapons in Trials of Osiris matches, but Bungie is working on a fix. More problematic was a DDoS attack, as its impact is still being felt.
  • Server instability is causing unresponsive enemy AI, tied matches, disconnects, and other network problems. Hopefully, Bungie will be able to resolve these issues soon.

Destiny 2 players are still experiencing major server issues and technical bugs following this month's string of DDoS attacks. The vast catalog of PvE and PvP content in Destiny 2 is severely impacted, and players have continued to report instances of enemy AI being unresponsive, Crucible matches ending in ties, and disconnects during Trials of Osiris weekend.

On September 15, Destiny 2 players discovered an incredible bug involving the Deepsight crafting system. This exploit would allow players to apply Exotic perks on crafted Legendary weapons, resulting in the use of extremely over-powered weapons in Trials of Osiris matches. Bungie allowed the Destiny 2 community to enjoy the crafted weapon exploit while the development team worked on a partial fix. While working on a subsequent hotfix for Destiny 2, Bungie released an official notice to players on September 19, revealing that the game's servers were affected by a series of DDoS attacks. Players are disappointed with the current state of Destiny 2 as they continue to encounter problems involving in-game content and network connectivity in the sandbox.

Nearly a week after the DDoS attacks began, the Destiny 2 community is still experiencing server issues across a variety of game modes. While exploring Destiny 2: Lightfall's Neomuna destination, Zansu and other Destiny 2 players noticed enemy AI being unresponsive to gunfire and abilities. Some enemies would also wander around and completely ignore players within the area, and other players note that doors will not open during these cases of network instability. In addition, rally flags will not spawn in some instances, preventing players from restocking their ammo before the start of a public event or dungeon/raid encounter.

In Trials of Osiris, network instability is detrimental to the player's experience since affected matches will result in a tie. Moreover, some Destiny 2 players are being disconnected from the game while attempting to win a round of Trials of Osiris, resulting in a loss being marked on their passages. Bungie hasn't commented yet on the most recent cases of server instability as Destiny 2 approaches its second week following the DDoS attacks.

The bugs and network problems paint Destiny 2 in a bad light despite many of the issues being out of Bungie's direct control, including the DDoS attacks. The community is disappointed with technical issues being a constant topic while discussing Destiny 2, so Bungie may want to place its focus on ensuring the game's servers are fully operational. Fortunately, Bungie typically addresses bugs and network problems in a timely manner, so the company is likely working hard to remedy server problems as quickly as possible.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
