The Edge of Fate has many mysteries to uncover, both personal and through the open world. However, one such mystery is a real head-scratcher, and frustration arises when players find themselves in a room with no way forward. Thankfully, this Destiny 2 guide will serve players who are stuck on the Dark Academia side quest, both providing them with the essentials to access the quest's secret puzzle door, as well as how to actually complete the quest for players who are currently experiencing bugged steps with immense confusion.

How to Open the Door in Dark Academia

Once players have arrived in Augur's Bethel, they will be met with a locked door along with a shielded pylon. Luckily, unlocking the door is far simpler than one might think. The video above shows players how to easily unlock the door, but there are written steps below for those who want to read on. The premise of this quest involves destroying blue fuses with any weapon, and there are 3 in total that need to be destroyed to activate the door. Here's the location of each:

  • Fuse #1 - When facing the Dark Academia door, look right and head down the ramp and shoot the fuse in a vent shaft.
  • Fuse #2 - Jump up to the second floor of the room and grab the Mattermorph. With the Mattermorph, head across the pipes back to the first floor to find a wall panel that can be opened with Mattermorph, and destroy the fuse inside.
  • Fuse #3 - With Mattermorph, head across the pipe and take a right across the second floor's platform. Just ahead, is a pipe that Mattermorph can be thrown at to reveal a fuse inside on the right.

Now that all fuses have been destroyed, players will need Matterspark. Matterspark can be acquired from above the train and above the second floor by the pipe flooring. With Matterspark, head back to the Dark Academia door and zap it open, where players can look at the orb in the room and select the option to Begin Ikora Side Quest.

How to Complete the Dark Academia Quest

There are 3 steps in the Dark Academia quest, and the first will automatically be completed once players pick up the Aionian device found on the floor, which is the golden orb. The next two steps are simple, and players just have to look at the floor to Scan Remains, and look at the shrine in the back left corner to get the Shrine Investigated step completed. However, for some players, this quest is not activating. In order to fix the Dark Academia quest bug, players must progress further into the main story of The Edge of Fate, so simply complete a mission and return to this area. (We complete the "Charge" mission.)

After returning to the area and completing the three objectives, pick up the Aionian Device from the floor and then return to the central HUB area of Kepler, where players can return to Dean Rebecca and speak with her to complete the side quest.
