Bungie has revealed some unique rewards for clans that are able to gain enough experience in Destiny 2, plus hinted at what is to come later this year in the game's Season 2.
Back when Destiny 2 launched, players who were members of a clan quickly noticed on the clan information page that there was something called seasons in Destiny 2, with Season 1 being active at the game's launch.
When the clan reward system went live, players understood a little more. By completing different activities in the game, each member contributes XP to their clan. As the clan levels up, all members unlock a new perk that typically makes the Destiny 2 experience more rewarding.
Bungie explained during a panel at TwitchCon that the developers plan to refresh those clan rewards at the start of each of the game's seasons. Every few months, Destiny 2 will roll over to a new season, which will add new content and give Bungie the freedom to make significant changes to the game.
Bungie says the decision to refresh clan progress was done for two reasons. For one, so that new clans can jump in at any time and not feel like they are never able to catch up to more established clans.
Secondly, the perks earned during each season will correspond to the activities players will be doing. In Season 1, many of the perks were based on the Cabal, which makes sense considering the story and the raid were centered around the Cabal. Season 2 will debut with or near the Curse of Osiris expansion, so the perks will change to reflect whatever the main enemies and activities are (the theory is it will be the Vex).
Lastly, if a clan is able to reach Rank 6 on their clan progression, they will earn a special reward, which Bungie showed. For Season 1, clans who hit Rank 6 will unlock the red and silver staff that holds the clan banner (pictured above). It is meant to represent the Cabal, again the primary enemy of Season 1.
Season 2 is expected to debut in early December, but Bungie has yet to put an exact date on when the transition will occur. There is still one more Iron Banner, Faction Rally, and one of the new Clarion Call events coming before the changeover from one season to another.
Destiny 2 is available now for PS4 and Xbox One, and releases on October 24, 2017 for PC.
