Destiny 2 players keep finding new ways to exploit the game's mechanics almost weekly at this point. One recently found exotic glitch enables Hunters to get their supers almost back to full after casting it.
Exploits around super regeneration have traditionally been some of the more popular glitches utilized by the Destiny 2 community. Bungie, on the other hand, has changed its stance against super regeneration in the past year and has nerfed almost every exotic armor piece that granted super energy before Shadowkeep was released.
This particular glitch concerns the Hunter exotic helmet Celestial Nighthawk. Its perk already states that every Golden Gun kills grants 1/3 super energy but with the addition of the Energy Converter armor mod, the effect increases dramatically.
When used to its fullest potential, the Energy Converter mod allows the user to boost their super energy up to the 50% mark when using their grenade ability. Note, it doesn't grant 50% energy, it only pushes the meter up to 50%, meaning, if the player is at 30% already, the mod only grants 20.
As shown by Reddit user Alucitary, by casting a grenade right after getting a golden gun kill, the player can get 80% of their super back, 50 from the Energy Converter mod, and 30 from the Golden Gun kill. The time window to do the trick is decently slim, around half a second. The trick is to cast the grenade before the game updates the super meter after depleting the Golden Gun.
To get the most out of the Energy Converter mod (and this trick), players need to build around it as the mod on its own cannot boost super energy as much as to 50%. The mod utilizes the Charged with Light mechanic so Taking Charge is a must have mod as this grants the Charged with Light status every time the player picks up an orb.
Next, the Supercharged mod will increase the total number of Charged with Light stacks a player can have up to a maximum of 5. The Stacks on Stacks mod will make generating stacks easier as it grants an extra Charged with Light stack every time the player gains one.
Since the build already revolves around picking up orbs of light, the Innervation mod can be handy as this will grant grenade energy on each orb pickup. With these mods equipped, players can quickly cycle through their Golden Gun supers.
Other users have also reported that this build works with the Shards of Galanor exotic Hunter gauntlets that return super energy based on Blade Barrage kills. Titan players have noted that this build combined with the Ursa Furiosa exotic gauntlets can potentially grant the entire super back.
It is unclear when this will be fixed by Bungie so players should try it out quickly if they wish to utilize it. Grandmaster or Master nightfall strikes seem like an ideal place to sport this kind of trick as teammates can take turns using their supers and generating orbs.
Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions also in development.
