Bolt Charge is a verb for the Arc damage type in Destiny 2 that lets players call down lightning strikes on their enemies. It's an excellent way to deal more damage to big targets or clumped-up groups of smaller enemies, and if you're playing as a Titan, you can make a very strong build that's all about activating Bolt Charge as often as possible.
This guide is all about spamming your class ability to quickly generate and discharge Bolt Charge stacks. Unlike previous Arc Titan builds in Destiny 2, this doesn't rely too much on melee or grenades, though weaving both of those abilities into the mix helps a ton when it comes to dealing with different enemies.
Destiny 2: Judgment God Rolls Guide
Judgment has come to stay as one of the best Stasis Hand Cannons in Destiny 2, and here is all you need to know about its god rolls.

Aspects
The star of the show here is the Storm's Keep Aspect, which generates Bolt Charge for you and your teammates when you use your class ability. While behind your Barricade, the fireteam generates Bolt Charge over time, and your weapons can discharge Bolt Charge when at max stacks.
Knockout is the preferred secondary Aspect for this build thanks to its heal-on-kill effect. Use it along with Thunderclap to clear adds and regain health in chaotic situations.
Playing this build is simple: use your class ability to gain Bolt Charge, then keep damaging enemies to trigger its lightning strike. The build's combination of Fragments, Armor Mods, and equipment will let you keep spamming your class ability for even more Bolt Charge procs.
Fragments
The four Fragments for this build have excellent synergy between each other. Together, they'll give you the following benefits:
- Spark of Shocks applies Jolt to targets.
- Spark of Ions creates an Ionic Trace when you defeat Jolted target. Traces are also generated when you defeat enemies with Bolt Charge.
- Spark of Discharge grants you a stack of Bolt Charge when you pick up an Ionic Trace. Arc weapon Final Blows also have a chance to give you Bolt Charge stacks.
- Spark of Frequency increases your reload speed and stability after hitting a melee attack, and it also increases the amount of Bolt Charge stacks you gain while amplified.
The synergy between the four is clear: lob a grenade to apply Jolt, then defeat that target to get an Ionic Trace. Pick the Trace up to get a stack of Bolt Charge, and if you're amplified, you'll get more stacks from all sources. These Fragments will work better if you have a weapon capable of applying Jolt.
Abilities
Thunderclap is the preferred melee ability for this build simply because of how reliable it is. It can wipe out large crowds of red-bar enemies, and it's especially useful for large swarms of flying targets.
As for the class ability, you can choose between Rally Barricade or Thruster based on preference. Rally Barricade is an excellent ability with Storm's Keep, as it'll give the entire fireteam a chance to generate more Bolt Charge over time. Meanwhile, Thruster is good if you need to keep moving.
Rally Barricade lets you discharge Bolt Charge just by shooting enemies while you're behind a Barricade. If you're going to use Thruster, you'll only be able to discharge Bolt Charge by using abilities (this includes Knockout's empowered punch).

This Armor Mod setup focuses on restoring as much ability energy as possible. It does so via the following mods:
- Focusing Strike grants class ability energy when damaging enemies with a powered melee attack (Thunderclap).
- Impact Induction restored grenade energy when causing damage with a powered melee attack.
- Heavy Handed and Reaper generates Orbs of Power for Utility Kickstart, which refunds a bit of class ability energy when you use your class ability.
- Innvervation and Insulation generate grenade and class ability respectively when you pick up an Orb of Power.
- Bomber restores grenade energy when you use your class ability.
Don't forget that Ionic Traces will restore ability energy too.
Weapons and Armor
- Primary Weapon (Energy): Lodestar Exotic Trace Rifle
- Secondary Weapon (Kinetic): Any Sniper or Fusion Rifle
- Heavy Weapon: Watchful Eye (or any other similar Arc Machine Gun)
Lodestar, the Exotic Trace Rifle from Episode Heresy, is the preferred primary weapon for this build, and that's largely thanks to its amazing DPS against weak enemies and its ability to apply Jolt when fully charged. Clear adds with its primary fire, and when it's fully charged, turn the safety off and blast yellow-bar enemies from behind your Rally Barricade. Bolt Charge will stack very quickly from behind your Barricade, especially if you're generating Ionic Traces via collateral kills with Jolt on your primary target.
Lodestar has unlimited reserve ammo, making it a very reliable pick. If you want to instead generate more Ionic Traces, use
Coldheart.
As for Exotic armor,
An Insurmountable Skullfort is a great choice if you want to constantly have Thunderclap ready. This lets you clear adds and generate Orbs of Power very efficiently. Alternatively, you can try the following:
-
Heart of Inmost Light
for more class ability spam
-
Citan's Ramparts
so you can use Towering Barricade
-
Eternal Warrior
for an Arc weapon damage buff after using Fists of Havoc
