It's no surprise that high DPS weapons are highly sought-after in Destiny 2, and when it comes to fighting bosses, a high DPS weapon is exactly what players need. Most (if not all) bosses in the game have limited windows of vulnerability, and as such, fireteams will need guns that can dump as much damage as possible onto their targets in short windows of time.

With so many weapons available to players, picking one that works best against bosses can be confusing, especially for newer players. In this guide, we'll be covering some of the best weapons players can use against the many bosses in Destiny 2, arranged in no particular order.

Outbreak Perfected

Best Primary for Boss Fights

Outbreak Perfected Pulse Rifle from Destiny 2

Primary weapons aren't typically the best ones to use against bosses, but Outbreak Perfected is an exception. It can melt boss health bars with its nanite swarms, and if the entire fireteam is using this weapon, the nanite swarm generation gets significantly faster, massively increasing team-wide DPS.

While Outbreak Perfected won't break any boss-killing records, it works well as a back-up weapon for boss fights with last stands, such as Oryx in King's Fall. If the team is struggling with Heavy and Special Ammo, then Outbreak Perfected's got their back.

Gjallarhorn

Best Weapon for Rocket Launcher Strats

Destiny 2 Gjallarhorn Detail Screen

Gjallarhorn itself isn't that good for boss DPS. This weapon's true value is how it makes other launchers better. Gjallarhorn buffs the Rocket Launchers of teammates with Wolfpack Rounds, making their projectiles explode into a cluster of target-seeking sub-munitions on impact. This is an excellent buff for Legendary Rocket Launchers like Hezen Vengeance, which can roll with both Envious Arsenal and Bait and Switch.

Overall, Gjallarhorn is a great weapon, but ideally, only one fireteam member should have it. Treat it like a support weapon when fighting bosses, but against everything else, feel free to release the wolves at your leisure.

Destiny 2: Cold Comfort God Roll Guide

A highly aggressive Rocket Launcher returns in Destiny 2 with revamped perks, and here's the exact rolls players will want for Cold Comfort.

VS Chill Inhibitor

Max Damage Mag Dumps

Much like the aforementioned Hezen Vengeance, the VS Chill Inhibitor can roll with the Envious Arsenal/Bait and Switch god roll, making the two weapons somewhat interchangeable. Both are Legendary weapons, which means you'll still have a vacant Exotic slot to fill in for the rest of the team's needs.

Speaking of Legendary weapons, VS Chill Inhibitor isn't the only Legendary Grenade Launcher players should be looking at. Generally speaking, as long as your Power weapon has Bait and Switch or any other similar damage perk, it will do well against most bosses.

Izanagi's Burden

Ol' Reliable

Izanagi's Burden

Izanagi's Burden remains a reliable weapon against bosses, especially for players using weapon swap tactics during damage phases. It works perfectly with the previously mentioned Chill Inhibitor and Hezen Vengeance, and it will work decently well with other weapons that benefit from quick swaps, provided players can mix Izanagi's special reload into their swap rotations.

Sniper Rifles in general are great for stationary bosses like the Templar in Vault of Glass. Flinch is going to be an issue, though, so don't forget to account for that when using any Sniper Rifle during damage phases.

Thunderlord

Hail to the King

Destiny 2 Thunderlord Arc Machine Gun

If you don't want to bother with precision, then the Thunderlord Exotic Machine Gun is an excellent option. Not only does its fire rate ramp up as you hold the trigger, but it also calls down lightning strikes on whatever you're shooting. What's more is that it synergizes with Bolt Charge Titan builds to generate even more lightning strikes, resulting in big DPS numbers.

Thunderlord is a great weapon to use against bosses that require players to move or adjust their aim a lot. If the bos you're trying to farm is hard to hit, then this weapon is a good option to fall back to.

Queenbreaker

Point, Click, Profit

the queenbreaker

Similar to the Thunderlord, Queenbreaker is great for simple but effective point-and-shoot boss killing. It deals high damage when used in three-shot-burst mode, and while it does require players to hit Precision Hits 100% of the time for max damage, it's a fairly forgiving weapon to use.

Linear Fusion Rifles aren't exactly the best weapons when it comes to boss DPS nowadays, but if the current season has mods like Particle Deconstruction, then LFRs will be worth using one way or another.

Falling Guillotine

Spin to Win

Falling Guillotine Overview

When it comes to certain boss fights, sometimes a sword is better than a gun, and as far as Legendary Swords are concerned, the BRAVE variant of the Falling Guillotine might just be the best one. Any sword with a Relentless Strikes/Whirlwind Blade roll is going to be good, but Vortex Frame ones like Falling Guillotine are especially strong and reliable when it comes to most boss fights.

The best part about this weapon is that it can be farmed fairly easily through the Onslaught activity. All you'll need is a decent build that can push back hordes of enemies and a little bit of patience. WIth enough luck and effort, you'll get a god roll Falling Guillotine for all your boss-slaying needs.
