Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba Sweep the Board, a new virtual board game, was released for the Nintendo Switch on April 26, 2024. It is the latest Demon Slayer franchise offering to hit the market and promises a fun and relaxed experience for fans of all ages. The gameplay isn’t simple, when compared to, say, Monopoly GO, but it is quite fleshed out and serves as a great way for fans to delve deeper into mangaka Koyoharu Gotouge’s world.
The new Demon Slayer game has good potential for success. The franchise has become something of a cult phenomenon since Ufotable’s anime started, and with Season 4, the Hashira Training arc, set to launch on May 12, 2024, it's a great time for a Demon Slayer side project. While they wait for the anime to launch, those on the Nintendo Switch might want to spend some time with the new virtual board game.

Number of Players in Demon Slayer Sweep the Board
Demon Slayer’s new board game is aptly named as players can sweep the floor with even the Twelve Kizuki demons like Gyutaro and Akaza if they work together. The board game can be played solo or with up to four players. It offers offline play via different controllers, local wireless play via separate Nintendo Switch consoles, and Online Play will require a Nintendo Switch Online Membership as well.
How Does Demon Slayer Sweep the Board Work?
The new Demon Slayer board game has a very simple goal: defeat demons and amass the most Rank Points by the end. Players can choose from among 12 Slayers, with one mystery character locked at the start. The list includes protagonist Tanjiro Kamado, along with pals Zenitsu Agatsuma, Inosuke Hashibira, and the Hashiras. Apart from the non-selected roster, Nezuko and other characters appear during the game as allies.
The virtual Demon Slayer board game has multiple levels of difficulty that have a strong influence on the game. Once players are ready to start, they must choose a board from among the five options present. Each consists of one or more popular locations from the franchise, like the Swordsmith Village, Tsuzumi Mansion, Mt. Natagumo, the Mugen Train, the Yoshiwara Entertainment District where Zenitsu showed great Thunder Breathing Techniques, and more.
Once players have made their choice, the game starts. During the day, one player has to reach the Destination Space to make it nighttime. While they play, they will encounter several minigames, aka Skill Training, that will help earn Slayer Coins. At night, they have to finish fighting demons at Greater Demon spots for daytime to come again. The fights feature great animations, like Slayer Tanjiro Kamado's Water Breathing Techniques. Based on the “meter” when one steps on the harmful spaces, this can either be a direct fight or some chase/investigative sequences beforehand.
