Out of all anime that have aired over the last few years, Demon Slayer is easily one of the most popular. Demon Slayer gained incredible traction since the release of its first TV anime season, but what truly propelled it to the great levels of fame that it is experiencing right now is its two movies. Demon Slayer's theatrical success started with Mugen Train, but it continued on with Infinity Castle Part 1. With Infinity Castle Part 1 receiving an amazing reception, fans are eagerly waiting for Infinity Castle Part 2’s release.

Sadly, the wait for Infinity Castle Part 2 is going to be longer than anticipated, based on the latest update by the franchise. It has been announced that Demon Slayer will have a re-run in Japan and that has sealed the fate of Infinity Castle Part 2, as things stand.

Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Part 1 Was Released In July 2025

Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Part 1

In 2025, Japan received its most successful anime movie of all time in the form of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 — Akaza's Return. Because of the standard set by Mugen Train, Infinity Castle Part 1 was always expected to reach very high heights, but few believed it would go on to surpass its predecessor movie in overall box office numbers.

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 first hit theaters in Japan in July 2025. Since then, it has been 7 months, and in February 2026, this movie is still in theaters, which is a testament to its popularity. Most recently, it even returned in Japan and in some other countries with a special IMAX re-release. Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1 is definitely far from dead. After all, it has yet to even hit streaming services, something that is anticipated to happen sometime later in 2026.

Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Part 2 Receives A Sad Release Date Update

Demon Slayer TV Anime Rerun Confirms Infinity Castle Won't Be Released Before Summer 2027

Demon Slayer Infinity Castle part 2 release Summer 2027

With the incredible quality delivered by Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 1, all eyes are now on the second movie in this incredible trilogy, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2. Anime fans all over the world are eagerly waiting for its release. Up until now, there was no official confirmation on Infinity Castle Part 2’s release date, but that has officially changed now, with a secret new update revealed by the studio and distributors in Japan.

Recently, it was revealed by the official X account of Demon Slayer that a rerun of the TV anime in Japan is coming. Starting April 5, 2026, Demon Slayer will begin a re-run on TV channels such as Fuji TV every Sunday morning, from 9:30 to 10:00 (JST). The entire anime will start anew with episode 1, and go all the way up to the end of Season 4.

Clearly, even though nothing about Infinity Castle Part 2 was mentioned, it does more than enough to confirm the release window of the next movie. Demon Slayer has four TV anime seasons in total. Combining all these seasons, the series has 63 episodes, and it would take 63 weeks to air all of them, assuming there are no breaks in between. With so many episodes to air, it will take these TV channels until late June 2027 to completely finish off the rerun.

With the Demon Slayer franchise doing a rerun the release date of Infinity Castle Part 2 can be pinned to after June 2027 at the very least. Rerunning the anime means the studio and the distributors are trying to ensure that fans stay hyped for Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2. With that in mind, it can be easily assumed that the Demon Slayer Infinity Castle part 2 movie will not be coming this year, and most certainly not before June 2027 in any case.

This makes even more sense when taking into consideration the fact that July 2027 would mark the second anniversary of Infinity Castle Part 1 in Japan. To honor that, the next movie could be coming around the same time. Evidently, a quiet confirmation on the release window of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2 has been delivered, and above anything, it has confirmed to a lot of the fans that a new movie won't be coming their way this year..

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2 Still Has No Official Release Date

More Information Could Release at Anime Japan 2026

Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Part 2 Release Date Update 2026

At the moment, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2 has no official release date. Previously, it was reported that the decision by the production committee was to air the Infinity Castle trilogy over the course of 6 years. This would coincide with the end of the re-run that was just announced, further solidifying the idea that Infinity Castle Part 2 will come in July 2027. Nevertheless, fans are still awaiting an official confirmation from the studio when it comes to the official release date or, at the very least, release window of Infinity Castle Part 2.

Jump Festa 2026 was a major disappointment for the series. No big announcements were made, and, for now, the future of this movie remains shrouded in mystery. Luckily, another major anime event is coming soon that features a Demon Slayer stage, and that is none other than Anime Japan 2026, which is finally beginning in March 2026. It could very well be that Demon Slayer Infinity Castle Part 2's release date is revealed during this event. Of course, fans shouldn’t keep their expectations too high either, given the disappointment suffered at Jump Festa. In the meantime, fans of Demon Slayer can watch a re-run of the anime alongside Japanese fans. No TV channel has confirmed a re-run of the Demon Slayer anime abroad, but fans can enjoy the series via popular streaming platforms, like Crunchyroll or Netflix.

What to Expect From Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2

The hype for Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Part 2 is through the roof already. The second movie will continue from where the first movie left off. With the threats of Akaza and Kaigaku being taken care of, focus will now shift towards other powerful demons still standing, such as Kokushibo, the Upper Rank 1 Demon, Doma, the Upper Rank 2 Demon, and Nakame, the Upper Rank 4 Demon. Above all, the Demon King Muzan still stands.

In Infinity Castle Part 2, the expectation is for all of Muzan's underlings to finally be dealt with, either by Tanjiro's companions or by the Hashira. These battles are about to be even more intense than what fans saw in the first movie.

The Demon Slayers will not come out of this battle unharmed. Many casualties are to be expected, and some of the most tragic deaths of the franchise are about to unfold in the second movie when it releases.
