Gyomei Himejima is regarded as the strongest demon slayer of his generation. Although he is blind, Himejima's strength is so overwhelming that he can defeat demons with his bare hands. In fact, the first demon he ever killed was when it dared to attack his temple, where he was living with a few orphaned children. Himejima was overcome by rage when most of the kids in his care were murdered brutally, following which he kept beating the demon till the next morning, until sunlight disintegrated it.
If the master had not helped me, I would have been executed. After that, I became a deeply distrustful person. And, of course, I didn't even believe in you. No matter how righteous people usually are, they reveal their true selves in times of disaster. But you did not run away. You did not look away. You did not lie. You were straightforward and resolute. It sounds simple but not many people are like that. You are a special child. I have seen many people with the eyes of my heart, so if I say this, it is true. Everyone is uneasy about the future. From now on, I will help you so that you do not take the wrong path. ~ Gyomei Himejima
Once he joined the Demon Slayer Corps, he worked relentlessly to become a Hashira and fought countless battles ever since. It should come as no surprise that he was chosen by Kagaya Ubuyashiki to go after Muzan in the aftermath of the blast he had planned. Gyomei was quick to attack the Demon King as he was recovering from his injuries and even successfully beheaded him with a single strike.
When Muzan tricked the Demon Slayer Corps into the Infinity Castle with Nakime's help, the Stone Hashira seemed to be one of the most determined demon slayers to bring him down. But before he does that, he faces one of the biggest challenges of his life. In the Infinity Castle, Shinobu, Tanjiro, and Zenitsu will be the first to confront Doma, Akaza, and Kaigaku, respectively. Meanwhile, Muichiro Tokito will run into Kokushibo.
Sanemi and Genya will also join the battle against the Upper Rank One soon afterward, while Gyomei Himejima will be the last to arrive at the scene. Kokushibo will easily overwhelm Tokito and Genya, so Stone Hashira's intervention will be quite consequential.
Himejima is the Ideal Adversary For Kokushibo
The Stone Hashira Can Stop Kokushibo
Gyomei Himejima is arguably one of the greatest demon slayers to have ever lived. Despite being blind, his strength, speed, and intelligence often overwhelm most demons he faces. Someone like Kokushibo is just too overwhelmingly powerful even for combatants with the Demon Slayer Mark. Because of that, the Corps needs to deploy someone exceptional to counter the Upper Moon. Luckily, Himejima will cross paths with Kokushibo, just when it will seem that the latter is about to slaughter some of the most talented swordsmen of the Taiso Era.
Demon Slayer: Every Fight That Will Happen In the Infinity Castle Arc, Ranked
The Infinity Castle arc is an intense one. It features many exciting fights from Demon Slayer.
Kokushibo likes to psychologically attack his rivals while physically hurting them. Gyomei's presence will mean that the Upper Moon won't be able to do the same with his comrades. However, the Stone Hashira will make his presence truly felt by fighting the Upper Moon One on equal ground, something almost no other demon slayer can afford to do. His techniques, physical strength, and swordsmanship will even impress Kokushibo, who will go as far as claiming that he hasn't fought an adversary like Gyomei in centuries.
Himejima will be ruthless against Kokushibo, and instead of getting caught up in his psychological tricks, will surprise the demon with an accurate analysis of his past and by catching him lying about something important. Gyomei will fight the Upper Moon, not just physically but also psychologically and spiritually.
By exposing his secrets, Himejima will leave Kokushibo vulnerable to attacks from his comrades. However, the Upper Moon One will not go down so easily. As Gyomei will soon find out, bringing down Kokushibo will require not just strategic brilliance but tough sacrifices.
Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle trilogy's first installment is scheduled to be released in the United States on September 12, 2025.
