While Gyomei is one of the strongest Hashiras, he is also the most compassionate Hashira in the Demon Slayer Corps. While he may have an intimidating appearance because of his hulking figure, Gyomei is an emotional giant. He is constantly seen praying or crying over the less fortunate and is rather soft in nature when he is not fighting demons. Another unique attribute is that while the majority of the Hashiras use katanas, Gyomei uses a spiked ball and axe which are connected to each other with a metal chain. This unique fighting style gives him an edge over other Hashiras and also stands a chance against the abilities of powerful demons like Kokushibo, a swordsman who became a demon with nearly five centuries of swordsmanship knowledge.

Stone Breathing also mimics the qualities of stone, which is both solid and grounded. It is also known that to use Stone Breathing effectively, the user will need to use a heavy weapon such as an axe or kama instead of a katana to unleash the Stone Breathing-based attacks.
