How to Solve the Tree Puzzle in Deltarune (Chapter 1)

Deltarune has many secrets and puzzles that will have players turning to the internet for guidance. While the majority of puzzles for Chapter 1 will involve card symbols and knowing when to switch them between one another, there is a rather interesting puzzle involving a hidden tree.

Players will need to avoid taking damage while moving along a path until they spot this tree, which will then disappear before they can get close to it. Players will also be able to find one of several secret egg rooms that will give players a special key item near here. Players should pick up this item before they leave the area.

Where to Find the Secret Tree in Deltarune (Chapter 1)

Players will need to progress through Chapter 1 of the game until they find a specific sign where they can trigger this room. This will be a blue sign with the following text on it:

Revolve around the center, and look carefully. The darker it gets, the more you can see.

Once players interact with this sign, head to the right. They will see a ring with a hazard in the form of white diamonds. Moving into the hazard zone will cause the screen to darken and expose Kris’s red heart.

Wait until the white line of diamonds is in line with Kris then follow behind it, moving in an anticlockwise direction. While moving along the top of the ring, players will see a tree with 2 legs has spawned. Once they see this special tree, they will need to leave the ring and go to where this tree was standing.

Interacting with this location will tell players that there was a switch they triggered. Players can now continue to the right to progress the story of Chapter 1.

However, it is worth noting that if players backtrack to where the blue sign is, they have a chance of finding a secret room.

Nearby Secret Egg Room

There are many secret egg rooms throughout the game. These can be easy to pass by, so it is worth looking them up before playing through a chapter to ensure they are not missed. Repeatedly, heading back onto the path on the left has a chance to find a secret room with a tree.

Once players have found this hidden room with the tree, heading up to it and interacting with it will trigger a dialog message. This message will state, “(He is behind the tree),” and players will need to walk around the tree and interact with the spot behind its leaves.

Players will be informed that there is a man behind the tree and will have the option to accept something from him. Selecting “Yes” will get them one of the game’s secret egg items.
