The AKS-74 is a compact assault rifle that packs a mean punch in Delta Force. While its fire rate may be noticeably slower than most other weapons, it makes up for that drawback by much easier to handle while firing, and it hits a lot harder compared to other guns its size.
If you're looking for a good weapon to master first in Delta Force, then the AKS-74 might just be the perfect pick. The following is a build that caters more towards Delta Force's Warfare mode, though it should work just as well in the extraction mode.
7 Best FPS Games With Customizable Weapons
Being able to customize weapons in a shooter adds a nice layer of buildcrafting, and the following FPS games are the best examples of it.
Updated May 24, 2025 by Marc Santos: The AKS-74 has remained a reliable pick in Delta Force, but with the introduction of CQB-oriented maps and the prevalence of shotguns and SMGs, we've updated this guide to include a high Handling build for this weapon that should make dueling against meta weapons feel a bit more even.
Best AKS-74 Loadout in Delta Force
The AKS-74 can be used by all operators regardless of class, making it a very accessible and reliable weapon. By default, players will have to wrangle with the gun's strong recoil and bad stability, but with the following attachments setup, the AKS-74 will shoot like a laser beam with decent hipfire accuracy for running and gunning.

WIth this build, the AKS-74 will have the following stats (without any Calibration effects):
- Damage: 27
- Range: 30m
- Control: 67
- Handling: 67
- Stability: 51
- Accuracy: 60
Basically, the weapon will become much easier to control when firing in both short bursts and full-auto, and since the build doesn't go all-in on Control, you can expect it to still feel quite snappy as far as ADS speed is concerned. An Accuracy stat of 60 also means that you'll be able to comfortably gun down enemies up to 10m away with hipfire, making this weapon very reliable in close-medium ranges.
There's no need to Calibrate any of the attachments for this build, but feel free to tweak it to your preference.
The AKS-74's recoil with this setup becomes so easy to handle that you'll be able to safely use a 3x magnification optic on the rifle and still be accurate when firing in full-auto, perfect for fans of slow, mid-range fighting styles commonly seen in games like Battlefield. However, if you're going to do this, keep in mind that the AKS-74's effective range is only 30m, so expect enemies beyond that range to take more shots to kill.
High-Handling AKS-74 Build
The good thing about the AKS-74 in Delta Force is that it is relatively easy to control by default. Even with low Control and Stability stats, tracking targets with this weapon while firing is still not as hard as other weapons in the AR category. This gives players the opportunity to create a high Handling AKS-74 build that's great for outmaneuvering enemies.

Calibrate the Foregrip for ADS Movement Speed and the Rear Grip and Stock for Control.
This Delta Force AKS 74 build reduces the gun's Control and Stability stats to 35 and 53 respectively. However, it bumps Handling to 95, which translates to you getting a 147ms ADS speed and 3.45m/s ADS Movement Speed. This is almost as fast as some Handling-based SMG builds but without the terrible recoil control.
An AKS-74 build like this can potentially be good to bring for an Operations run if you don't have anything else to bring. It still hits like a truck, and its newfound mobility will let you outflank enemies and get the first shot off in every fight.
Importing Build Codes
For convenience, Delta Force lets players share their builds with others via import codes. The one for this build is:
- Low Recoil Build: AKS-74 Assault Rifle-Warfare-6EKL3QO06GGSVELMFER1R
- Handling Build: AKS-74 Assault Rifle-Warfare-6GCCK6S06GGSVELMFER1R
To use it, select the AKS-74 from the in-game Loadouts screen, then select Modify. After that, go to the Loadout tab on the upper left side of the screen — select Import on the lower-right, then paste the code above into the text box that appears.
You'll need an AKS-74 that's around level 54 in Warfare mode in order to get all the attachments needed for this build. For Operations mode, you'll need to buy or scavenge the necessary parts listed above.
