Death Stranding may very well be at the top of several gamers' most anticipated list, so it makes sense as to why fans are constantly clamoring for more information about the enigmatic title. According to a recent rumor, gamers will be learning the release date of Death Stranding during The Game Awards on December 6. However, this should be taken with a massive dosage of salt for several reasons.
The primary reason this rumor should be approached so skeptically is because the said rumor suggests that not only is Death Stranding receiving a release date at The Game Awards 2018, but also Ghost of Tsushima and Dreams. All 3 during one event seems incredibly unlikely. That said, this information comes from an e-mail that's supposedly from Sony Brazil, stating the following:
"Update: Release windows for Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima will be revealed during this year's edition of The Game Awards next month. Official release date of Dreams will also be announced."
Furthermore, this rumor spread wide and quickly, but the e-mail itself only identifies Dreams as receiving a release date. It states that the other two will receive "release windows" which could mean the quarter or even the year it is set to release.
The rumor has also expanded to suggest new trailers for each of the aforementioned games are coming during the Awards ceremony. Once again, this all at once sounds highly unlikely, especially since this is a third party event. If this was a Sony exclusive event, it would be in the realm of possibility, but this rumor is really hard to believe otherwise.
Nevertheless, it could very well all prove to be true, as some form of recompense from Sony, as it plans to skip E3 2019 next year. Still, though, all of it sounds too good to be true, for even if it literally means two release windows and one release date are going to be announced, those being accompanied by three trailers makes it even more unlikely. At any rate, December 6 is fast approaching, so hopefully, we will have a definitive answer sooner rather than later.
Death Stranding is currently in development for PlayStation 4, but lacks an official release date.
