When Kojima Productions released Death Stranding in 2019 for PlayStation 4, it seemed to divide the fan base somewhat, with some not quite sure what to make of the Metal Gear Solid creator's new IP. While the desolate open world of Death Stranding did receive a good response, there were some critics and players who weren't quite onboard with what was essentially dubbed a "postman simulator." However, it's still a successful game, which warranted subsequent ports for the PS5 and Windows, with the director's cut allegedly now coming to PC.
According to a recent report, a press release from Intel in regard to its upcoming Arc graphics cards this year has been leaked, which mentions numerous studios who will be supporting its Xe Super Sampling upscaling technology. In the midst of this document there is a quote from 505 Games president, Neil Rally, which says that Death Stranding on PC was popular among fans, and that the company is "delighted" about the partnership with Intel and that the company will be bringing the Director's Cut to PC.
While the information pertains mostly to the Intel upscaling technology coming soon, this small statement in the middle seems to confirm the Director's Cut edition of the open world title from Kojima Productions will, indeed, be available for PC gamers at some point. It should be mentioned that this is a leaked press release, so while the quote from Rally could well be legitimate, at the time of this article going live, there doesn't appear to be any official announcements outside the document that's doing the rounds. It does seem to be a solid piece of evidence, but it is worth waiting for more statements further down the line.
Death Stranding Director's Cut was released for PlayStation 5 back in September 2021, which came with improved visuals, extra missions, and some other features not present in the original game. There were also some new construction tools and weapons added, as well as a new building, the Ruined Factory, included in the world map.
Recent images have also sparked the possibility of a Death Stranding 2, with a tweet from Kojima himself showing what looks like a studio with three blurred figures in the background, chief among them is believed to be Norman Reedus. Of course, these are only speculations at this stage. There is no official word about a sequel, but for now, PC fans can at least enjoy the fact that the Director's Cut is likely on the cards soon, it's just not certain when.
