Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has been rated in Brazil, implying that a release date for the next Kojima Productions title could be just around the corner. One of 2025's most highly anticipated releases, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will once again put players in the shoes of Sam Porter Bridges as he attempts to reconnect the world.

After being officially announced in December 2022, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has remained a hot topic in the gaming community, with fans of the original title eager to see more of Hideo Kojima's unique world. Updates on the game's production have steadily trickled out over the past few years, but while the title is still slated to hit shelves in 2025, no exact release date has been confirmed. Kojima Productions is expected to reveal more details about Death Stranding 2 during a SXSW 2025 panel in March, and it seems increasingly likely that anxious fans will finally hear the news they've been waiting for during the event in Austin, Texas.

Characters Who Should Not Return In Death Stranding 2

The original Death Stranding had a ton of memorable characters, but not all of them should come back for the sequel.

On February 13, Gematsu took to Twitter to report that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach had been rated in Brazil, implying that the project is nearing its release date. This proved to be encouraging news, as many in the community were disappointed that the title didn't make a showing during the February 2024 State of Play presentation. Earlier in the month, Death Stranding 2 was also rated in South Korea, with the listing detailing that the game would contain swearing, drug use, and "excessive violence."

Updates for the game seem to be coming more frequently, with Kojima recently posting a Death Stranding 2 clip and hinting at a new trailer for the single-player action-adventure game. The sequel will notably feature some new faces, including Elle Fanning in the role of Tomorrow, Shioli Kutsuna as Rainy, and Fatih Akin as the sentiment puppet Dollman. The late-night comedian Conan O' Brien will also be returning as Sea Otter Hood.

Initially, Death Stranding 2's release date was planned to be revealed during Tokyo Game Show 2024, with Kojima himself claiming that the date had already been decided. Curiously, the creator noted that because of circumstances beyond his control, the announcement couldn't take place during the massive event. Many fans aren't expecting to see the game until Q4 2025, though some are concerned about a busy end of the year, with Borderlands 4 coming in September and Grand Theft Auto 6 likely dropping in winter.

WHERE TO PLAY

DIGITAL

From legendary game creator Hideo Kojima comes an emotionally charged evolution of this genre-defying experience.

Unique and realistic world

In the expansive open world of DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH, countless areas with vastly different terrains and environments are seamlessly connected, and the changing time, weather and nature itself provide a variety of landscapes and challenges.

Evolved and more flexible action

There are various obstacles that will prevent Sam from completing his mission. Face them head-on, sneak around, or completely avoid dangerous areas. Choose your approach to any situation.

A deep and captivating story

Eleven months after the events of the original DEATH STRANDING, rejoin Sam and his companions on a new journey to save humanity from extinction and discover the answer to this haunting question: Should we have connected?

Go beyond the UCA

Join Sam for the next chapter of his journey as he attempts to connect Australia to the Chiral Network. Navigate a living environment through day and night cycles, natural disasters – including earthquakes, sandstorms and forest fires – and Timefall, a rain that instantly ages everything it touches.

To traverse this dangerous landscape, you’ll need to build new types of infrastructure, master specialized equipment and confront (or evade) the otherworldly creatures that roam the fractured world.

Fight for the future

Face enigmatic Mech soldiers, as-yet unseen BTs and new boss types that will push Sam to his limits. As you prepare for each journey, you’ll be able to fabricate weapons like machine guns, shotguns and grenade launchers to deal with threats. Or, choose to avoid confrontation altogether with stealth – using decoy holograms, silent takedowns and long-ranged gear.

Through APAS enhancements, Sam can learn new skills that will improve his odds of survival, like enhanced weapon fire-rates or reduced movement noise to help him stay hidden.

Hands across Australia

The iconic Social Strand System of DEATH STRANDING returns to encourage asynchronous connection across the globe. Your in-game actions affect how other players interact with the world and vice-versa – so connect, collaborate and help your fellow Porters on their journeys.

Leave a “Like” on a useful bridge, donate resources to community projects, store field ware in shared lockers and finish incomplete deliveries as you stumble upon dropped cargo from other Porters. As you support other players on their journeys, your own reputation will grow, giving you access to valuable resources and new gear.
