Death Must Die stands out in the world of wave-based roguelite games like Vampire Survivors, drawing inspiration from acclaimed titles like Hades and Diablo. It combines the talent progression system reminiscent of Hades with a deity mechanic where gods grant blessings to aid players in their battle against Death.

At first, facing off against skeleton knights and slimes might seem easy, but as players progress, investing strategically in stats becomes crucial, especially when confronting strong bosses like Dracula in the later stages. With a wide range of stats available, understanding their roles can be overwhelming in this roguelite RPG.

While Realm Archive's hack-and-slash provides brief descriptions of each stat when hovered over, some players might prefer to have all main stats readily available. Below is a list of the main and common stats you'll encounter in Death Must Die.

How to Upgrade Stats and Unlock New Stats in Death Must Die

Death Must Die - Blessings

In Death Must Die, your characters can start with the stats listed above and can collect even more as you progress. You can improve these stats and unlock new ones by upgrading characters' talents at the Constellarium, wearing equipment, and obtaining blessings from gods.

The simplest method to boost stats is through blessings bestowed by gods upon leveling up. At each level, a god presents a choice of three blessings from seven types: Attack, Dash, Strike, Cast, Power, Summon, and Passive. Passive blessings provide stats categorized as Utility, Blessing Slots, Offensive, and Defensive, while the others have unique categories. If you've played Hades, you're likely familiar with the boons bestowed upon Zagreus by Greek gods. Death Must Die has a similar deity system to help your characters in their fight against Death by granting blessings.

Equipment is another means of gaining stats in Death Must Die. Initially, your character will start without any equipment. However, after a few runs, you will begin collecting equipment dropped by enemies, which you can then equip to upgrade existing stats or unlock new ones. With enough gold, you'll also have the option to purchase equipment from the shop conveniently located near the Constellarium.

The Constellarium serves as Death Must Die's character talent system. To unlock talents, you'll need to collect essence dropped by boss enemies. Some talents grant new skills and stats upon unlocking, and the best part is that these upgrades are permanent for your characters. Furthermore, don't worry about selecting the wrong talents, as Death Must Die allows you to reset them and regain your essences by spending 500 gold coins.
