Tomorrow, Sony is hosting a huge PlayStation 5 event that is set to reveal some of the new games that are headed to the next-generation console, and hopefully, a showcase of the actual console itself alongside long-awaited information such as its price and specific release date. Now, a day before the event, rumors, and speculation about the games to be revealed have begun surfacing online, and the writer behind Dead Space all but confirmed that his next project will be revealed at tomorrow's broadcast.
In a since-deleted tweet released by Antony Johnston, the Dead Space writer revealed that for the past couple of years, he has been working on a big video game. Johnston did not say specific details about his current project, but he also mentioned that "In totally unrelated news, you should all watch the PS5 launch event on Thursday," which is an obvious hint that this new game will be announced at tomorrow's event.
Of course, given that Johnston is known for his work in the Dead Space franchise, many assume that the game to be revealed at tomorrow's PS5 event is a new entry in the series, though that seems highly unlikely. However, some fans also speculate that it could also be Binary Domain 2, or even a new IP altogether. When asked in the comments of his tweet as to what the game would be, Johnston only left a vague hint that didn't really help fans identify the game that he is working on.
"You play a character having a really bad time," Johnston wrote. Of course, given that this is the premise of most video games, fans are left with no choice but to patiently wait for tomorrow's PS5 event. To the uninitiated, the PS5 event was originally scheduled to take place last June 4 but was subsequently delayed to give way to the massive protests happening around the world concerning the death of George Floyd, police brutality, and many others.
A couple of days ago, Sony announced that the PS5 event has been rescheduled to broadcast on June 11 at 1 PM PT, exactly one week after the original event was supposed to air worldwide. Ever since the announcement of the new schedule, the hype for the next-generation games took over the internet, with many rumors circulating online such as the possible reveal of Resident Evil 8, Horizon Zero Dawn 2, God of War 2, a new Silent Hill game, and many others. Luckily for fans, all the PS5 rumors, and speculation will be put to rest tomorrow, when Sony alongside major game developers, reveals the lineup of next-generation games for the PlayStation 5.
