Dead Island 2 is a semi-open-world zombie game that is packed full of weaponry for players to take a swing at. There are plenty of melee weapons as well as a fair share of guns for players to find that all range in rarity. Like any good game that rewards the player with a fair share of loot, some of these weapons exceed even those that are simply named due to their legendary rarity.
Dead Island 2 Vs Dying Light 2: Which Game Is Better?
Dead Island 2 and Dying Light 2 are competitors in the open-world post-apocalyptic genre; here are the key strengths of each game.
Players will gradually find these legendary weapons while exploring Hell-A, although many of them can't be obtained until completing the main story due to their sheer power. Due to this, players should know that this guide contains spoilers for Dead Island 2.
Updated on April 29, 2024, by Megan Smith: Dead Island 2 has seen another influx of players as the zombie-killing action title sends players on another epic story in the recently added SoLA DLC. While the previous Haus DLC didn't have any new Legendary Weapons for Dead Island 2, players were able to find two new ones to slay zombies with. For players in Dead Island 2, who are after all the legendary weapons, here is every single one, what makes them special, and where they can be found, so any Slayer can kill with style while also proudly showcasing their collection of lethal weaponry.
Dead Island 2 Legendary Weapons and Where to Find Them
Sawblade Launcher
- Threefer - Fully charge and fire a shot that has increased damage and slices through multiple zombies. Meanwhile, tapping a shot does increased limb damage.
- Top Up - When this weapon is stowed it gradually reloads.
The Sawblade is a classic weapon that fans who are familiar with the Dead Island franchise will be happy to see return with the SoLA DLC. It has two firing modes for the player to choose from, as the normal firing mode shoots a single sawblade that does an immense amount of damage to limbs. While the second mode, known as the charged firing mode, is only available to be used when the gun is fully loaded with blades, it can strike multiple zombies at once.
Dead Island 2: Things To Do After Beating The Story Quests (Post-Game Content)
After beating Dead Island 2 main story quests, players can take on these interesting missions.
The Sawblade comes with the fixed perks: Threefer, where a fully charged shot harms multiple zombies, and Top Up, which allows the weapon to reload itself when using a different weapon. On top of this, the Sawblade also has the modification of Ranged Mutilator which greatly increases its physical damage.
How To Get It
Players who want to use the Sawblade legendary weapon will only have it available to them after completing the entire story for the SoLA DLC. Therefore, a player will need to complete all nine missions available from Bad Vibrations to The Sound of Violence.
Ripper
- Revolutionary - Attacks increase the blade's speed, with heavy attacks and counter-attacks increasing it the most. When at full speed, the Ripper does far more damage.
- Skilled - Killing a zombie will give the player a moderate damage boost to heavy attacks that also charge faster.
The Sawblade wasn't the only legendary weapon to be made available with the SoLA DLC, as players can also get their hands on the deadly baseball bat known as the Ripper. This baseball bat with a blade attached to it is great for close-quarter combat and especially for players using melee-based slayers.
The Ripper comes with the fixed perks: Revolutionary, which increases the blade's speed with every attack, which eventually does increased damage when it hits top speed, and Skilled, where killing a zombie gives the player a moderate boost to their heavy attacks that also charge up faster. The Ripper also comes with the superior Melee Punctuator modification, that allows the weapon to inflict bleed damage.
How To Get It
Players can purchase the Ripper once they have arrived at Grace's Hideout during the start of the SoLa DLC story. When accessing the vending machine, players can see the Ripper available for $33,000 though it's incredibly worth it.
Blood Rage
- Puncture Wound - Landing critical hits in quick succession inflicts bleed damage and also a maiming boost.
- Infectious - Hitting a zombie inflicts bleeding damage that also spreads to nearby zombies too.
Blood Rage is an incredibly lethal knife that's a call-back to the original Dead Island. This blade was once wielded by Xian Mei who was a lethal assassin as well as being one of the four Slayers players were able to select in the original title.
This weapon comes with the fixed perks of Puncture Wound, which increases the amount of critical damage done with each critical hit, and Infectious, which causes Bleed damage to spread to other zombies. Besides this, the modification on the legendary weapon is also locked. This is a Superior Melee Puncturing Mod that increases the amount of bleeding damage it does to a zombie.
How To Get It
Players will be able to earn this weapon by completing the Lost and Found quest located in the Lifeguard HQ on the Pier. When the player finds a named Crusher called Dante, he will drop the first clue that starts the 'Fool's Gold' quest .
After finding the rest of the clues, players will uncover that the treasure is, in fact, Blood Rage.
Brutalizer
- Bloodlust - Landing critical hits in quick succession will increase the amount of limb damage done by the player, which also weakens the zombie.
- Contagious - Heavy attacks on a zombie affected by a status effect will spread to other zombies.
Many of the legendary weapons in Dead Island 2 are part of the maiming type of melee weapons; Brutalizer is no different. This sharp machete was made to cut the limbs off zombies, and the perks that are locked on it reinforce this play style.
Dead Island 2 Haus DLC: How Long To Beat
The new Haus DLC for Dead Island 2 isn't as long as one might think.
Firstly, the perk Bloodlust means that every critical hit to a zombie's limbs will do more limb damage as well as weaken them. This becomes even stronger as the perk can stack, meaning the player can become ruthless with their attacks. The Modification of Superior Melee Mutilator also means that the weapon does an even higher amount of physical damage. However, this does not mean it doesn't dish out any other status effect.
How To Get It
Brutalizer is one of the most long-winded legendary weapons for players to get their hands on. This is because the player must complete the entirety of the 'Body Art' side quest. Players will first need to complete both the other two side quests in Beverly Hills before the artist will appear.
As players unlock new Apex Variants, the artist will require new limbs to complete her works of art. Once her project is complete, she will give them this maiming weapon.
Big Shot
- Boomstick - Shots from the gun can explode on impact, traumatizing the zombie.
- Russian Roulette - When low on rounds the Boomstick does more damage.
There are only two legendary guns in Dead Island 2, but they are both a necessity of the player's artillery for how fun they are to use and being incredibly lethal. Big Shot, the demolition-style pistol, is the first one players will likely unlock.
Although it may look like a pistol, Big Shot takes shotgun rounds due to how hard-hitting it is. With the perk Boomstick, these usual shots cause explosions that have the chance of traumatizing the zombies, which will stun them. Players shouldn't reload it too quickly, as the fewer bullets in the gun, the more damage it is likely to do.
How To Get It
Players won't be able to earn Big Shot until near the end of the main storyline. Many players may, in that case, miss it due to not realizing there is more to do in Bel-Air. When returning to Emma's mansion, there should be a new side quest called 'It's Not Your Fault.'
During this quest, players will be forced back down into the Sewers to collect seismic readers; once completing the quest, they will be rewarded with the gun.
Emma's Wrath
- Overkill - Counterattacking or skull stomping a zombie will prime Emma's Wrath, which causes a shotgun blast when hitting a zombie with it.
- Shockwave - Knocking down a zombie triggers an explosion.
Bulldozer weapons also have their own legendary weapon. Emma's Wrath is a large hammer that players may have seen Sam B using throughout the story of Dead Island 2. Eventually, this melee weapon finds itself in the player's hands, and it's deadly.
Besides its intense Superior melee Impacter mod that increases its physical damage while also having the chance to traumatize the undead, one of the other greatest perks this hammer has is Overkill. When performing a successful skull stomp or counter, the next hit of Emma's Wrath will trigger a shotgun blast, with no bullets required.
How To Get It
Unfortunately, players won't be able to get their hands on Emma's Wrath until after completing the main story of Dead Island 2.
Emma's Wrath is apparently too powerful to use in the main story though players are sure to still have fun swinging at zombies while completing all the side quests that come after.
Bodycount
- Exit Wound - Hitting a zombie has a chance of spreading bleed damage to nearby zombies.
- Bloodthirsty - Killing a zombie with Bodycount increases its damage and generates Fury faster.
The last legendary gun players can find is the secret weapon of the military known as Bodycount.
Dead Island 2: All Blueprints & Where to Find Them
Players can get blueprints throughout Dead Island 2, which they can use to customize weapons for combat challenges. Here's where to find them all.
With a ranged superior puncturing mod, if the bullets don't kill the zombie, the bleeding status effect it causes will. This bleed damage can then be spread to other undead through the fixed perk of Exit Wound, as well as each kill using the gun, increasing the player's damage further.
How To Get It
Once again, Bodycount is a legendary weapon that players won't be able to find until they have completed the story of Dead Island 2. When returning to the Military Barracks of Venice Beach, the player will find a named zombie called LT. Ford.
Once killing him, he will drop the start of the clues needed to complete the Lost and Found quest called '[Redacted]'.
The One
- Headhunter - Decapitating zombies causes a forceful explosion that also regains the player's stamina and health.
- Swift Blow - Heavy attacks charge faster.
Another great maiming legendary weapon that players can get their hands on is the glorious long sword known as The One. Like the Brutalizer, this weapon comes equipped with the Superior Melee Mutator mod that does substantial physical damage.
However, where this epic sword differs is through its fixed perks, such as Swift Blow, which allows heavy attacks to charge faster. The perk Headhunter then encourages players to decapitate their foes to cause explosions while also healing them for any damage they may have taken.
How To Get It
The One also can't be obtained until the player has completed the main story, although it includes some other steps. Players will need to complete the side quest 'Beacon of Hope' found in Hollywood Boulevard; the player will be given the sword as a reward.
However, to unlock this side quest, players must first complete the other side quest, 'The Terror of Sound Stage 7' in Monarch Studios; this can be completed before the main story.
Krakatoa
- Reaper - Hitting an ignited zombie primes the weapon, which then makes the heavy attack of it deal additional fire and limb damage.
- Tear 'N Sear - Maiming a zombie creates a pool of burning fuel underneath them.
Continuing the theme of movie set props or those that replicate them, Krakatoa is another maiming weapon that seeks to reap the souls, or heads, of the undead it attacks. Unlike the other maiming weapons mentioned, this large axe burns its foes due to being equipped with the Superior Melee Cremator Mod.
Those ignited by the flames of the axe will then be able to prime the axe to do its Reaper perk, which causes heavy attacks to inflict even more fire damage, as well as increased damage to limbs. Continuing to maim these foes will also cause fuel to drop on the ground for even more fiery chaos.
How To Get It
Players will be disappointed to hear that this is another weapon that they won't be able to use until completing the main story. After that point, players should visit the Sterling Hotel in Ocean Avenue to pick up the Lost and Found quest for 'Steve' from the board.
After going on a search for Steve, they'll finally find him and assist him in finding his leading stars. The player will be rewarded with this dangerous prop from his one film for helping him.
Party Starter
- Spitting Fire - Knocking down a zombie or killing them with a heavy attack increases the player's fire resistance and ignites nearby zombies.
- Skilled - Killing a zombie gives a moderate damage boost to heavy attacks and allows them to charge faster.
The final legendary weapons that players can find are the ruthless knuckle dusters known as Party Starter. This is the only legendary frenzy weapon available in the game, and it certainly exceeds in impressing its players.
Like the Krakatoa axe, the Party Starter hits with a lethal fiery force that will ignite zombies in flames. Killing a zombie with a heavy attack will make the player resistant to fire while setting the surrounding undead aflame; this allows players to be a lot more reckless in their frenzy.
How To Get It
Party Starter is the final melee weapon players can't obtain until after completing the main story. Their next stop after this completion should be to return to the Sterling Hotel on Ocean Avenue and find the bathroom on the first floor.
Picking up the phone that can be found there will start the 'Drunk and Disorderly' Lost and Found quest; this will set the player off on a search for several named zombies to kill. Once finding the last one, they will drop the keys to a car back at the hotel with the knuckle dusters inside.
